- • As an Employment Legal Counsel based in Legora’s Stockholm headquarters, you will assume a pivotal role in supporting one of the world's most rapidly expanding legal technology companies. You will collaborate intimately with our People Team, providing expert advice on a comprehensive spectrum of employment-related matters. The primary objective of this role is to facilitate Legora's continued rapid team scaling in a manner that is both robust and practical.
- • This position demands a significant degree of autonomy and the capability to operate effectively across multiple time zones. You will forge close partnerships with stakeholders worldwide, becoming an indispensable component of Legora’s long-term employment strategy. You will report directly to the Head of Legal, who is based at our Stockholm headquarters.
- • Legora’s legal function operates as a forward-deployed, AI-first team, engaging with diverse jurisdictions and legal disciplines. We function as trusted strategic partners to the business, with a particular emphasis on product development, operational efficiency, and commercial initiatives. - • What you will be doing:
- • Serve as a strategic legal advisor to the business, working in close collaboration with senior leadership within the People, Operations, and Executive teams on a global scale concerning employment matters.
- • Spearhead the creation, meticulous review, and effective implementation of employment contracts, comprehensive policies, and robust frameworks across various jurisdictions, with a pronounced emphasis on the European Union.
- • Offer expert counsel on intricate employment law issues, encompassing recruitment processes, termination procedures, organizational restructurings, performance management strategies, employee relations dynamics, and complex cross-border workforce challenges.
- • Deliver commercially astute and pragmatic advice regarding employment-related risks, ensuring strict compliance while simultaneously maintaining business growth momentum and operational agility.
- • Provide critical support for international expansion endeavors by meticulously assessing the employment law implications in new target markets and coordinating effectively with external legal counsel as necessary.
- • Develop and implement scalable, repeatable employment frameworks, standardized templates, and internal guidelines designed to facilitate efficient and compliant global hiring practices.
- • Advise on matters pertaining to works councils, collective bargaining agreements, and other pertinent local regulatory obligations where applicable.
- • Collaborate closely with the People Team to ensure that all employment practices not only align with Legora’s core values but also rigorously adhere to all legal and regulatory standards.
- • Actively contribute to the development and execution of governance, compliance, and risk mitigation initiatives within a rapidly scaling international operational environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Law degree (LL.M., J.D. or equivalent) from Sweden, the UK, or an EU jurisdiction, with current qualification to practice law in that country.
- • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience, gained either at a top-tier law firm or as in-house counsel, with a primary focus on, or substantial exposure to, employment and labour law.
- • Deep and comprehensive understanding of EU employment law frameworks and cross-border workforce management. A strong command of Swedish employment law is essential.
- • Proven ability to provide commercially pragmatic advice, focusing on enabling business objectives while effectively managing associated risks.
