📋 Description

  • • Provide strategic legal counsel on operational and regulatory matters for Humana’s Home Solutions line of business, including CenterWell Home Health, one of the nation’s largest home health care providers, ensuring compliance and mitigating risk in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape.
  • • Counsel operational teams on patient safety, quality issues, and related governmental inquiries, translating complex legal requirements into actionable guidance for frontline staff and leadership.
  • • Collaborate across Legal, Compliance, and Risk Management teams to align legal strategy with organizational goals, supporting enterprise-wide risk mitigation and ethical decision-making.
  • • Deliver risk assessments, analytical insights, and proposed mitigation strategies to senior leadership on potential initiatives, contracts, and operational decisions affecting home health services.
  • • Advise on healthcare contracting, licensing, Medicare/Medicaid enrollment, fraud and abuse prevention, and mergers and acquisitions within the post-acute care space.
  • • Communicate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely to non-legal stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • • Navigate Humana’s complex organizational structure effectively, engaging stakeholders across departments, geographies, and levels of seniority to build consensus and drive compliance.
  • • Operate both independently under general guidance and as a collaborative team member, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
  • • Stay current with evolving federal and state healthcare regulations, particularly those impacting home health agencies and post-acute care providers.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree with active attorney licensing in at least one U.S. state.
  • • Minimum of 3 years of experience practicing healthcare law in a law firm or in-house legal department within a healthcare organization.
  • • Proven experience advising healthcare providers on core healthcare law topics such as patient care issues and surveys, fraud waste and abuse, state licensing, Medicare/Medicaid enrollment, healthcare contracting, or mergers and acquisitions.
  • • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills with the ability to distill complex legal issues into clear, actionable advice.
  • • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex legal analyses effectively to non-legal audiences, including executives and operational teams.
  • • Experience working in complex organizational environments, engaging cross-functional stakeholders at all levels.
  • • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative legal team.
