Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Join SkyNRG, a pioneering force in decarbonizing the aviation sector, as a Project Counsel and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in North America.
- • This is a unique opportunity to be the primary legal resource for SkyNRG Americas and its flagship U.S. initiative, Project Wigeon, a groundbreaking project focused on establishing one of the nation's first commercial-scale facilities for producing SAF from renewable natural gas.
- • As Project Counsel, you will be instrumental in the development and execution of complex legal agreements that are critical to bringing this transformative project to fruition.
- • Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of contractual matters, including drafting, analyzing, and negotiating agreements for technology licensing, FEED (Front-End Engineering Design) and EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts, offtake agreements, renewable natural gas (RNG) sourcing, site agreements, and project utilities.
- • You will be the key liaison for coordinating contractual needs between the project team and external partners, adeptly managing negotiations with counterparties while aligning with internal priorities to ensure project schedules are met without compromising on critical details.
- • This role demands a pragmatic and business-focused legal professional who can effectively distill complex information into clear, precise, and actionable advice for business and cross-functional stakeholders.
- • You will actively participate in project meetings, maintaining a deep understanding of evolving project needs, nuances, and timelines to proactively address legal challenges.
- • Beyond project-specific legal support, you will also provide general legal assistance, including support for financing activities, overseeing the work of outside counsel, and handling other day-to-day legal matters pertinent to SkyNRG's expanding operations in the United States.
- • SkyNRG is committed to sustainability and has been a leader in SAF since 2010, working collaboratively with airlines, businesses, governments, NGOs, and academics to advance cleaner air travel.
- • Project Wigeon, located in Washington State, exemplifies this commitment by leveraging cutting-edge technology, strong regional partnerships, and SkyNRG's global expertise to accelerate the transition to sustainable aviation.
- • By joining the US team, you will contribute directly to initiatives that support ambitious climate goals and ensure the long-term sustainability of aviation for SkyNRG in the North American market.
- • The ideal candidate possesses 6 to 10 years of in-house legal experience, with a strong background in renewable energy project development and infrastructure.
- • You should be adept at issue spotting, synthesizing complex information, engaging with diverse stakeholders, and managing outside counsel efficiently and cost-effectively.
- • A key aspect of this role involves bridging the time zone difference between SkyNRG's US operations and its global headquarters in Amsterdam, requiring excellent communication and organizational skills.
- • This position offers the chance to work within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, contributing to a company that is making a tangible impact on global sustainability efforts.
- • You will be an integral part of a dedicated team that is passionate about innovation and committed to achieving net-zero emissions in aviation.
- • SkyNRG's dedication to sustainability is paramount, evidenced by its status as a globally recognized Certified B Corp, RSB certification, and guidance from an independent Sustainability Board and NGO network.
- • This role requires a proactive individual with an open and commercial mindset, a willingness to learn rapidly, and a collaborative, solutions-focused approach.
- • You will be expected to offer commercially viable alternatives as part of risk management strategies and demonstrate outstanding stakeholder engagement capabilities.
- • High integrity, sound judgment, and discretion are essential, as is the ability to work independently and thrive in fluid business environments that demand adaptability and resilience.
- • The position is primarily remote, based in the US, with a requirement to reside and be authorized to work within the Eastern or Central U.S. time zones to facilitate collaboration.
- • While the role is predominantly remote, periodic travel to the SkyNRG Americas office in Bend, Oregon, as well as potential business-related travel to Amsterdam and other locations, will be expected.
- • This is a full-time employment opportunity with comprehensive company benefits available to qualified employees, offering a chance to be part of a mission-driven organization at the forefront of the green energy revolution.
🎯 Requirements
- • Juris Doctor (JD) with active US bar membership in good standing.
- • 6-10 years of relevant legal experience, with at least 3 years in-house experience, specifically 3-4 years in oil & gas, renewable energy, or infrastructure, including project development, technology licensing, and/or large-scale infrastructure projects.
- • Exceptional drafting, negotiating, and analytical skills with high business acumen, coupled with a pragmatic, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach.
- • Ability to work independently, learn quickly in an unstructured environment, and thrive in diverse and fluid business settings, bridging time zone gaps effectively.
- • Must be eligible to work in the United States and reside in the Eastern or Central U.S. time zones.
