📋 Description

• Manage ongoing trade school reports, renewals, and submissions averaging 3–5 per month across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with state regulatory requirements.
• Complete outstanding trade school licenses in jurisdictions where Stepful is not yet fully licensed, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to secure necessary approvals.
• Maintain and update instructor and agent registrations across all licensed states, ensuring all personnel are properly registered and in compliance with state board requirements.
• Develop and maintain internal resources, templates, and documentation to support cross-functional teams in Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs initiatives.
• Design and implement robust information management systems for storing and retrieving critical Legal Compliance & Public Affairs documents, including state licenses, corporate governance materials, policies, and project tracking records.
• Drive the adoption and optimization of operational tools to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability for the Legal Compliance & Public Affairs team.
• Create use cases for AI applications in compliance monitoring, regulatory research, and workflow automation, while critically evaluating ethical risks, regulatory implications, and operational benefits.
• Support cross-functional compliance projects by collaborating with teams across Product, Education, Finance, and Operations to execute initiatives aligned with legal and regulatory obligations.
• Ensure all Legal Compliance & Public Affairs documentation is organized, accessible, auditable, and compliant with internal standards and external regulatory expectations.
• Identify process inefficiencies in compliance workflows and propose, test, and implement improvements that reduce manual effort and increase reliability.
• Serve as a key operational liaison between the Legal, Compliance & Public Affairs team and other departments, translating regulatory requirements into actionable internal processes.
• Track and report on compliance deadlines, licensing statuses, and regulatory changes to ensure proactive risk mitigation and continuous operational readiness.
• Contribute to the evolution of Stepful’s compliance infrastructure as the company scales into new states and regulatory environments.
• Present complex compliance information clearly and concisely to non-legal stakeholders, including leadership and operational teams.
• Participate in internal audits and prepare documentation for external regulatory reviews or inspections.
• Stay informed on evolving state-level regulations affecting allied healthcare training programs and proactively adjust internal processes accordingly.
• Support public affairs initiatives by maintaining accurate records of regulatory engagements and policy developments impacting Stepful’s operations.

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal operations, paralegal work, or project management with a focus on legal or compliance functions
• Proven experience managing multi-jurisdictional licensing, registrations, and regulatory reporting for educational or healthcare training programs
• Demonstrated success in leading technology-led projects within a legal or compliance department
• Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate initiatives across diverse business stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to varied audiences
• Strategic thinking ability to balance day-to-day operational demands with long-term process improvement goals
