- • Own the deal review cycle across Brain Co.'s active pipeline — coordinating redlines with external counsel, aligning stakeholders, and delivering clear recommendations to leadership on each contract.
- • Build scalable playbooks, templates, and systems to increase deal review capacity by 2–3x without adding headcount, enabling faster institutional AI adoption.
- • Develop Brain Co.'s commercial position on AI-specific terms including IP, data rights, indemnification, and pricing to support strategic, risk-aware decision-making.
- • Surface contractual patterns and flag risks early so leadership can make faster, more informed decisions on deal structure and commercial terms.
- • Manage relationships with external legal partners to ensure quality, consistency, and cost efficiency in all contract engagements.
- • Work within an applied AI startup backed by top Silicon Valley builders, applying frontier AI to modernize essential services in government, healthcare, and critical industries.
- • Contribute to a mission-driven team of 70+ AI experts from Tesla, Google DeepMind, NVIDIA, and Databricks, helping unlock real-world impact at scale.
- • Gain experience shaping legal operations from the ground up in a high-growth AI environment, developing systems that scale with company momentum post-$55M Series A.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8-10+ years of experience in legal ops, commercial contracts, or deal desk roles, preferably in SaaS or AI environments.
- • Proven ability to manage external counsel effectively — maximizing value while controlling costs.
- • Systems-building mindset: identifies manual processes and designs scalable solutions to increase throughput.
- • Strong commercial judgment: distinguishes between substantive contract risks and negotiating posturing.
- • Excellent written communication: transforms complex redlines into clear, actionable memos for executive decision-making.
- • Creative problem-solver: proposes alternative deal structures when standard terms aren’t feasible.
- • Comfortable operating in ambiguity while building a new function from the ground up.
