- • Produce verbatim transcriptions from audio recordings in Sardinian, including noises, cross-talk, and non-verbal utterances, while strictly adhering to provided annotation guidelines.
- • Translate transcribed Sardinian content into natural, fluent English, preserving the original meaning, tone, and cultural nuance of spoken language.
- • Review and correct existing transcripts or translations for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to linguistic standards.
- • Provide structured feedback on linguistic inconsistencies, ambiguities, or errors encountered during transcription or translation tasks.
- • Work across both transcription and translation workflows when assigned, moving directly from audio → Sardinian transcript → English translation within the same project.
- • Maintain high fidelity to spoken content without paraphrasing, summarizing, or omitting elements such as hesitations, repetitions, or dialectal variations.
- • Complete tasks within designated deadlines, ensuring consistent quality and reliability in delivery.
- • Adhere to project-specific style guides and terminology standards provided by Lilt for each audio dataset.
- • Participate in quality assurance processes by reviewing peer work or flagged segments as required by project needs.
- • Work independently with minimal supervision, managing time and workload according to personal availability and project demands.
- • Accept tasks only when able to commit to a minimum of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week, ensuring consistent availability for ongoing project needs.
- • Operate as an independent contractor under a 1099 arrangement, responsible for own tax obligations and without guaranteed hours or benefits.
- • Contribute to the development of advanced language technology used by enterprises, governments, and AI developers worldwide.
- • Engage with a global community of linguists and language professionals working on diverse, real-world speech datasets across African and other low-resource languages.
- • Access a variety of innovative projects that expand professional experience across domains, dialects, and linguistic contexts.
- • Work remotely from Sardinia with full flexibility over schedule, hours, and workload intensity.
- • Receive prompt and competitive payments for completed work without invoice chasing or payment delays.
🎯 Requirements
- • Native-level proficiency in Sardinian
- • Graduate qualification in translation, linguistics, or language studies, OR a graduate qualification in another field plus 2 years of full-time professional translation experience, OR 5 years of full-time professional translation experience
- • Prior experience with spoken language transcription is a strong advantage
