- • Execute the internal loan review program for UMB Financial Corporation and its subsidiaries to assess credit risk, asset quality, and loan portfolio management.
- • Conduct individual and portfolio-level loan reviews covering commercial lending, consumer lending, and other credit extensions as defined by the Loan Review Charter and Manual approved by the UMBFC Board Risk Committee.
- • Evaluate the soundness of underwriting credit analysis to ensure it appropriately justifies and mitigates identified credit risks.
- • Assess the reliability and timeliness of loan risk ratings and recommend adjustments when necessary.
- • Identify actual and potential loan problems at the earliest stage and propose actionable remediation strategies for credit weaknesses.
- • Review compliance with internal policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing lending practices.
- • Interact directly with loan officers, commercial team leaders, and commercial group managers to discuss credit quality, policy adherence, and loan administration effectiveness.
- • Serve as Reviewer in Charge for assigned lending units or loan portfolios, including defining review scope, establishing timelines, consolidating findings, drafting comprehensive Loan Review Reports, and presenting results to senior and executive management.
- • Participate in planned business unit, vertical, and horizontal reviews to evaluate overall risk management practices across the organization.
- • Mentor and train new associates within the Loan Review department, supporting their professional development and understanding of credit risk standards.
- • Maintain strict confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and credit information.
- • Analyze complex credit structures and interpret financial reports, technical journals, and legal documents to inform review conclusions.
- • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly articulate findings, recommendations, and risk exposures to diverse stakeholders.
- • Ensure all loan review activities align with UMBFC’s risk appetite and governance framework as directed by the Corporate Risk Department and approved by the Risk Committee.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- • 8 years of commercial banking experience in credit analysis, credit administration, lending, or loan review
- • 5 years of Loan Review or Bank Examiner experience (preferred)
