📋 Description

• The Localization Operations Specialist at Whatnot plays a critical role in enabling the company’s global expansion by ensuring that product, marketing, and support content is accurately and efficiently localized for international markets. This role directly impacts user experience and market readiness by bridging cross-functional teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality localized content on schedule.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include managing localization projects from intake to delivery using a Translation Management System (TMS), coordinating with product, marketing, and support teams to align on priorities and timelines, owning operational workflows such as project setup, tracking, and issue resolution, supporting international launches by verifying localization readiness and identifying risks early, triaging localization feedback and bugs in collaboration with vendors and internal teams, and contributing to process improvements, documentation updates, and linguistic asset maintenance as the company scales globally.
• The Localization Operations team at Whatnot operates within a fast-growing, international environment, partnering closely with cross-functional stakeholders across engineering, product, design, and support to ensure seamless global launches. The team is committed to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and maintaining linguistic quality and consistency across all markets where Whatnot operates.
• In this role, the specialist will develop deep expertise in localization operations within a high-growth tech marketplace, gain hands-on experience with industry-leading TMS platforms like Smartling or Phrase, strengthen cross-functional collaboration and project management skills, and contribute to scalable processes that support Whatnot’s mission of enabling anyone to turn their passion into a business through live commerce.

🎯 Requirements

• 2–4 years of experience managing localization or content operations projects
• Experience working with TMS platforms such as Smartling, Phrase, or similar tools
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Professional working proficiency in at least one additional language beyond English
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally in a tech, marketplace, or high-growth environment
• Detail-oriented with a bias toward action and comfort operating in ambiguity
• Ability to conduct root cause analysis and propose practical solutions
