Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead a high-performing billing team at Rochester Tech Park, Gates, NY, where your strategic vision will directly influence the financial health of the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC). You will oversee professional-fee billing across multiple medical specialties, ensuring every charge is captured, coded, and collected with precision and integrity.
- • Own end-to-end revenue-cycle operations: hire, coach, and retain a team of billing specialists; set performance metrics; and foster a culture of continuous improvement that aligns with URMC’s Meliora values—equity, leadership, integrity, openness, respect, and accountability.
- • Drive daily charge-entry, claim-submission, payment-posting, denial-management, and cash-reconciliation workflows. Monitor dashboards and KPIs to spot trends, reduce A/R days, and maximize net revenue while safeguarding University assets through rigorous internal controls.
- • Serve as the primary liaison between URMC departments, faculty practices, and external payors (commercial insurers, Medicare, Medicaid). Build trusted relationships that accelerate claim resolution, negotiate favorable contract interpretations, and keep reimbursement policies current.
- • Translate complex coding guidelines (CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10) into actionable education for physicians and APPs. Design and deliver ongoing coding-compliance workshops, documentation audits, and one-on-one coaching sessions that elevate clinical documentation and reduce audit risk.
- • Partner with URMC administrators to craft long-range strategic initiatives—process automation, AI-driven denial analytics, patient-centric billing communications—that position the organization at the forefront of academic medical-center revenue-cycle excellence.
- • Author and distribute executive-level reports that translate billing data into clear narratives for department chairs, CFOs, and compliance officers. Your analyses will guide investment decisions, staffing models, and payer-policy advocacy.
- • Ensure 100 % adherence to federal, state, and University regulations (HIPAA, CMS, NYS DOH). Lead internal audits, remediate findings, and champion a culture where ethical billing is non-negotiable.
- • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within the billing office. Create equitable hiring practices, mentorship pathways, and professional-development opportunities that reflect the communities URMC serves.
- • Embrace a flexible work model: after completing in-person training at Rochester Tech Park, you may work remotely within New York State (within two hours of RTP) while attending periodic on-site meetings to maintain team cohesion and stakeholder alignment.
- • Safeguard cash and receivables by implementing dual-control procedures, periodic reconciliations, and system-access audits. Continuously refine controls to adapt to evolving risks and technologies.
- • Stay ahead of industry shifts—value-based care, telehealth reimbursement, price-transparency mandates—and translate regulatory changes into operational playbooks that keep URMC compliant and competitive.
- • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Patient Access, Health Information Management, Compliance, and IT to eliminate silos and deliver a seamless patient financial experience from registration through final account resolution.
