  • • Lead customs duty mitigation initiatives focused on civil aircraft programs and aerospace-related tariff exemptions, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and maximizing cost savings across global import operations.
  • • Manage and support compliance strategies involving Civil Aircraft Agreement eligibility, HTS classification, tariff engineering, Section 301, Section 232, IEEPA mitigation, USMCA and other Free Trade Agreements, temporary importation programs (e.g., 9801, 9802, TIB), and drawback or customs recovery programs.
  • • Provide strategic guidance on import declarations, country of origin determination, customs valuation, and preferential trade claims to ensure accurate and compliant documentation for aerospace products and components.
  • • Review and validate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications and special tariff provisions applicable to aerospace parts and systems to reduce duty liabilities and avoid compliance risks.
  • • Partner cross-functionally with Global Trade, Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and external customs brokers to align import operations with regulatory requirements and corporate cost objectives.
  • • Support audits, government inquiries, customs disclosures, post-entry corrections, and protests by preparing documentation, coordinating responses, and ensuring regulatory adherence.
  • • Develop, maintain, and update internal import compliance procedures, work instructions, and controls to standardize processes and reduce operational risk across global supply chains.
  • • Monitor regulatory changes impacting aerospace imports, assess business impacts, and communicate updates to leadership and relevant stakeholders to ensure proactive compliance.
  • • Support the implementation and optimization of trade compliance processes within ERP systems such as SAP and customs platforms to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
  • • Deliver training and guidance to cross-functional teams on customs compliance requirements, duty mitigation opportunities, and proper application of trade regulations.
  • • Interface with customs brokers, outside legal counsel, government agencies (e.g., CBP), and industry groups to resolve complex trade issues, negotiate favorable interpretations, and represent company interests.
  • • Identify opportunities for duty savings, process improvements, and risk reduction through analytical review of import patterns, tariff structures, and supply chain configurations.
  • • Apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex trade regulations and translate them into actionable, operational strategies within aerospace manufacturing environments.
  • • Maintain attention to detail in all documentation, classifications, and compliance activities to prevent penalties, delays, or supply chain disruptions.
  • • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance the scalability and accuracy of global trade operations in alignment with company growth and regulatory evolution.
  • • Utilize data-driven decision-making to evaluate trade program effectiveness, track duty savings, and justify strategic investments in compliance infrastructure.
