📋 Description

• Lead and manage the KYC (Know Your Customer) operations team to ensure seamless, compliant, and efficient onboarding of global users across MoonPay’s regulated markets.
• Oversee end-to-end KYC workflows including document verification, identity validation, risk assessment, and escalation handling for millions of customer transactions.
• Ensure strict adherence to AML (Anti-Money Laundering) and KYC regulations across all jurisdictions where MoonPay operates, including the U.S., UK, EU, Canada, and Australia.
• Collaborate with legal, compliance, and product teams to implement and optimize KYC policies, procedures, and technology integrations that balance user experience with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and analyze KYC performance metrics such as approval rates, turnaround times, fraud detection rates, and customer drop-off points to drive continuous improvement.
• Train, mentor, and scale a high-performing, globally distributed KYC operations team with a focus on quality, accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Work closely with third-party verification vendors and internal tech teams to improve automation, reduce manual intervention, and enhance system reliability.
• Respond to regulatory inquiries and audits by maintaining accurate documentation, audit trails, and compliance records across all regions.
• Identify emerging regulatory trends and proactively adapt KYC processes to meet evolving global standards without compromising user onboarding speed.
• Maintain a customer-centric approach by minimizing friction in the verification process while upholding MoonPay’s commitment to security and trust.
• Report directly to senior compliance and operations leadership with regular updates on team performance, risk exposure, and operational bottlenecks.
• Drive cross-functional initiatives to reduce false positives, improve document recognition accuracy, and enhance user communication during verification failures.
• Ensure all KYC operations align with MoonPay’s enterprise-grade security standards and are fully compliant with licensing requirements in all active markets.
• Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous learning within the KYC team to support MoonPay’s mission of global financial empowerment.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience managing KYC/AML operations in a fintech, crypto, or regulated financial services environment
• Deep understanding of global KYC/AML regulations across U.S., UK, EU, Canada, and Australia
• Experience leading remote, cross-cultural operations teams in high-volume transaction environments
• Strong proficiency in KYC technology platforms, identity verification tools, and automation systems
• Demonstrated ability to analyze operational metrics and implement data-driven process improvements
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with compliance, legal, and product teams
