- • As the Manager of Payment Operations at WeTravel, you will lead a globally distributed team responsible for ensuring secure, efficient, and compliant payment processing for thousands of travel organizers and over a million travelers annually. This role is critical to scaling WeTravel’s mission of empowering entrepreneurs in the travel industry by maintaining the reliability and trustworthiness of our payment infrastructure, directly supporting our growth from $1B to $10B in annual travel experiences.
- • You will manage the day-to-day operations of the Payment Operations team, including task allocation, conducting regular 1:1s, tracking key operational metrics, overseeing project timelines, and ensuring completion of periodic responsibilities such as 1099-K filings. You will serve as the escalation point for complex customer payment issues, resolving them through timely communication via chat, email, or phone/video while coordinating with internal teams and external payment partners.
- • You will collaborate closely with Compliance Ops, Customer Support, Account Management, Sales, Product, and Business Intelligence teams to align on risk mitigation, process enhancements, and customer experience improvements. Additionally, you will partner with Payment Service Providers (PSPs) to ensure seamless service delivery and drive joint initiatives that improve reliability and reduce friction in payment flows.
- • You will lead continuous process improvement efforts, leveraging data analysis and visualization skills (using tools like Excel, Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI) to identify inefficiencies, recommend optimizations, and implement changes that enhance team performance and customer satisfaction. You will also conduct regular risk and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to regulatory standards and drive proactive risk mitigation.
- • The Payments Operations team is a strategic, cross-functional unit based remotely across Europe, Latin America, and the US, playing a vital role in WeTravel’s growth trajectory. You will join an innovative, mission-driven company that values autonomy, empathy, and continuous learning, where your leadership will directly impact team development, operational excellence, and customer trust in a fast-evolving fintech-travel hybrid environment.
- • In this role, you will develop advanced leadership capabilities in managing distributed teams, deepen your expertise in global payment systems and risk frameworks, and gain strategic influence by driving cross-functional initiatives that shape product and policy decisions. You will have the opportunity to mentor and upskill team members, contribute to scalable processes, and grow into a broader operations or risk leadership role within WeTravel as we scale toward our $10B vision.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience in payments, risk, or compliance operations within SaaS, marketplaces/platforms, eCommerce, online gaming/gambling, fintechs, or payment processing, including at least 2 years of direct people management
- • Advanced proficiency in both English and Spanish (C1 or higher) in written and verbal communication, with proven ability to engage customers, internal stakeholders, and external partners effectively
- • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, demonstrated through managing customer escalations and improving internal processes under pressure
- • Hands-on experience working with payment service providers (PSPs) and familiarity with payment flows, reconciliation, and settlement processes
- • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization, including regular use of Excel and experience with tools such as Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI to extract insights and support decision-making
- • High self-motivation and comfort with ambiguity, with a track record of leading cross-functional and cross-geographical initiatives and driving continuous improvement
🏖️ Benefits

- • Amsterdam Program: opportunity to work from WeTravel’s Amsterdam HQ for 2–4 weeks annually, including accommodation in company-provided apartments

- • Access to a beautiful, centrally located Amsterdam office featuring a rooftop garden and proximity to Rokin metro station
- • Extensive paid family leave policies to support major life events

- • 2-week structured cross-functional onboarding program to ensure a smooth and informed start
- • Employer-sponsored pension plan with a 2% employer contribution deposited into your individual pension account
- • Access to a 10% group discount on supplementary health insurance (aanvullende verzekeringen), extendable to eligible family members
