đź“‹ Description

  • • As Manager, Payment Operations at WeTravel, you will lead a globally distributed team responsible for ensuring secure, efficient, and compliant payment processing for thousands of travel organizers and over a million travelers annually across 150+ countries. This role is critical to WeTravel’s mission of scaling from powering $1B to $10B in travel experiences per year, directly enabling entrepreneurs to launch and grow their travel businesses by removing payment friction and building trust in the platform.
  • • You will manage the day-to-day operations of the Payment Operations team, including task allocation, conducting regular 1:1s, tracking key operational metrics, overseeing project timelines, and ensuring completion of periodic responsibilities such as 1099-K filings. You will serve as the escalation point for complex payment issues, resolving customer concerns via chat, email, or phone/video calls while coordinating with internal teams like Compliance Ops, Customer Support, Account Management, Sales, Product, and Business Intelligence, as well as external Payment Service Providers (PSPs) to maintain seamless service.
  • • You will lead continuous process improvement initiatives both internally and in collaboration with PSPs to enhance efficiency, reduce friction, and improve customer satisfaction and retention. This includes conducting regular reviews of risk and compliance measures, identifying gaps, and recommending data-driven improvements using tools like Excel, Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI to extract insights and support decision-making.
  • • You will foster a high-performing, empathetic team culture by mentoring and upskilling team members, promoting cross-functional and cross-geographic collaboration, and modeling a drive for optimization and learning. Your leadership will help the team navigate ambiguity, embrace feedback, and stay aligned with WeTravel’s values of innovation, adventure, and social impact in travel.
  • • In this role, you will develop deep expertise in global payment systems, risk and compliance frameworks in SaaS and marketplace environments, and advanced stakeholder management across time zones and cultures. You will gain experience scaling operations in a high-growth tech company, influencing product and policy decisions through data and operational insights, and preparing for broader leadership roles in fintech, payments, or operations within the travel tech sector.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5+ years of experience in payments, risk, or compliance operations within SaaS, marketplaces/platforms, eCommerce, online gaming/gambling, fintechs, or payment processing, including at least 2 years in direct people management
  • • Advanced proficiency (C1 or higher) in both English and Spanish, written and verbal, with proven ability to communicate clearly with customers, internal teams, and external partners
  • • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to manage customer escalations and drive internal process improvements
  • • Experience working with Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and familiarity with risk and compliance measures in payment operations
  • • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel, Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI to extract insights and support decision-making
  • • High self-motivation, ability to lead cross-functional and cross-geographic initiatives, and comfort operating in ambiguous environments
  • • Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, process optimization, and team member upskilling
  • • Empathy, patience, and passion for helping team members and customers succeed, including willingness to engage directly with customers via chat, email, or phone/video to resolve complex issues

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Generous "Time to Recharge" policy offering unlimited paid time off to rest, recharge, and perform at your best
  • • Amsterdam Program: opportunity to visit WeTravel’s HQ in Amsterdam for 2–4 weeks annually, staying in company-provided apartments
  • • Flexibility to work remotely from any location for up to 4 weeks per calendar year
  • • Extensive paid family leave to support major life events
  • • Three paid volunteer days per year to contribute to causes you care about
  • • Two-week structured cross-functional onboarding program to ensure a strong start
  • • Provision of cutting-edge equipment and tools, including coverage for certain work-from-home (WFH) setup costs
