  • • Virtus Investment Partners is seeking a highly accomplished and strategic Managing Director, Senior National Accounts Manager – Alternatives, to spearhead the expansion and management of our national intermediary platform relationships. This pivotal role is designed for a seasoned professional who can drive significant asset growth, secure product approvals, and cultivate enduring strategic partnerships within the complex landscape of alternative investments. You will be the primary senior-level liaison, engaging directly with home offices, platform gatekeepers, and crucial alternatives research teams, while fostering seamless collaboration with our internal distribution and investment partners.
  • • In this capacity, you will be instrumental in managing and growing our key national accounts. Your core accountability will revolve around ensuring asset retention, driving net flows, securing prominent shelf placement for our offerings, and expanding the breadth of Virtus product offerings across various intermediary platforms. This involves a deep understanding of client needs and platform dynamics to maximize our market penetration.
  • • A significant aspect of your role will involve serving as the principal senior point of contact for all national account interactions. This includes leading strategic discussions with home offices, platforms, research teams, and business gatekeepers. You will navigate complex conversations around selling agreements, platform access, rigorous due diligence processes, the articulation of our investment capabilities, and the demonstration of our performance track record. Your ability to build trust and convey value will be paramount.
  • • You will be a key advocate for Virtus’ comprehensive multi-manager investment platform. This includes effectively promoting our diverse range of products, such as mutual funds, ETFs, closed-end funds, Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), sub-advisory relationships, and our specialized alternative strategies. Your objective is to ensure these offerings are strongly positioned and well-understood across all partner platforms, aligning with their investment mandates and client demands.
  • • This role demands proactive business development and the cultivation of strategic alliances. You will initiate, deepen, and maintain robust relationships with wirehouses, regional broker-dealers, independent broker-dealers, and Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) platforms. Identifying new platform placement opportunities and securing additional product approvals will be critical to expanding our distribution footprint and revenue streams.
  • • Success in this position requires exceptional internal cross-functional leadership and coordination. You will forge strong partnerships with our Sales, Marketing, Product, Portfolio Management, Compliance, and Operations teams. This collaborative approach is essential for executing platform initiatives effectively, supporting overarching distribution objectives, and ensuring consistent, high-quality client and platform execution. Your ability to align internal resources with external opportunities will be a key differentiator.
  • • The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree, with an MBA, CFA, or CAIA designation being strongly preferred. A minimum of 12 years of experience in investment product sales is required, with a substantial focus on alternatives and national accounts expertise. You must demonstrate a profound understanding of alternative investment structures and the intricacies of intermediary platform distribution. Holding or having the ability to obtain SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 (or Series 63 and 65) licenses is mandatory. A proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders and driving enterprise-level growth within the financial services industry is essential for success in this demanding and rewarding role.
