📋 Description

• • Own the mechanical architecture for Dell’s entire desktop portfolio—MFF, SFF, Mini-Tower, Workstation and Gaming lines—translating market intelligence into 3–5-year technology roadmaps that secure Dell’s leadership in performance, acoustics, sustainability and cost.
• • Serve as the single point of technical authority during product definition, leading cross-functional reviews with electrical, thermal, software, supply-chain and service teams to lock system-level requirements and ensure every gram, millimeter and joule is optimized for customer value.
• • Drive front-end innovation by identifying white-space opportunities, scoping proof-of-concept projects and authoring business cases that secure funding; convert high-risk ideas into patent-ready solutions that expand Dell’s IP portfolio and create competitive moats.
• • Architect complex electro-mechanical assemblies from first principles—material selection, structural FEA, shock & vibration mitigation, tolerance stack-ups, EMI shielding, manufacturability and serviceability—balancing cutting-edge performance with mass-production realities across global ODM partners.
• • Translate industrial design sketches into detailed 3D CAD master models and 2D drawings using state-of-the-art CAD suites; enforce design standards, GD&T best practices and configuration management to guarantee seamless hand-off to NPI and sustaining engineering teams.
• • Lead thermal co-design with CFD analysts to converge on fan curves, heat-sink geometries and airflow paths that meet aggressive acoustic targets while unlocking next-gen CPU/GPU TDP envelopes for gaming and workstation segments.
• • Negotiate technical contracts with key component suppliers—sheet-metal, die-cast, injection molding, extrusions, TIM, fans—leveraging deep cost-modeling acumen to secure best-in-class pricing, quality and capacity commitments for multi-million-unit ramps.
• • Mentor a distributed team of mechanical engineers and ODM counterparts across Taipei, Austin and Penang, instilling design-for-excellence mindsets that reduce ECOs by 30 % and accelerate time-to-market by one full quarter.
• • Present executive-level readouts to VP and SVP audiences, distilling complex trade-offs into crisp visuals and data-driven recommendations that influence portfolio investment decisions and long-term platform strategies.
• • Champion sustainability initiatives by integrating recycled aluminum, ocean-bound plastics and modular architectures that extend product life-cycles, cut carbon footprints and align with Dell’s 2030 Moonshot Goals.
