- • Serve as the primary point of contact between Flock Safety and media outlets, pitching compelling crime-solving stories to journalists and securing consistent positive press coverage.
- • Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, and pitch emails aligned with Flock’s mission, product updates, and community impact milestones.
- • Proactively build and maintain relationships with reporters, editors, and producers across local, national, and industry-specific media channels.
- • Coordinate and support public sector press conferences, including those involving law enforcement, city officials, and elected representatives.
- • Engage directly with Flock’s public sector customers (cities, schools, law enforcement agencies) to identify and source authentic, newsworthy stories of crime reduction and missing person resolutions.
- • Respond swiftly and accurately to daily media inquiries, ensuring consistent, compliant, and brand-aligned messaging across all communications.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Product, and Customer Success teams to align media narratives with business priorities and product launches.
- • Monitor media coverage using PR and media monitoring tools, track key metrics, and provide regular reports on coverage volume, sentiment, and reach.
- • Act as a confident and credible spokesperson for Flock Safety in media interactions, public events, and internal stakeholder briefings.
- • Manage multiple media relations projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks based on urgency, impact, and editorial deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- • Adapt messaging and storytelling approaches based on audience, region, and media outlet to maximize engagement and coverage success.
- • Maintain accurate records of media contacts, outreach efforts, and campaign outcomes in centralized databases and CRM systems.
- • Represent Flock Safety at public events, community forums, and media roundtables with professionalism and deep knowledge of the company’s technology and impact.
- • Receive and act on constructive feedback from leadership and peers to continuously refine messaging, pitch strategies, and media engagement tactics.
- • Stay current on evolving media trends, public safety narratives, and regulatory landscapes affecting technology deployment in public sectors.
- • Support crisis communications efforts by preparing rapid-response materials and coordinating messaging during sensitive or high-profile incidents.
- • Ensure all communications adhere to Flock’s commitment to privacy, transparency, and ethical technology use.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4-6 years of public relations experience, either at an agency or in-house
- • Direct experience pitching stories to and building relationships with reporters
- • Experience working with public sector employees (e.g., law enforcement, city/county officials, elected representatives)
- • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to write press releases and media pitches
- • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple high-priority projects in a fast-moving environment
- • Self-starter mentality with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines without supervision
