📋 Description
- • Design and build custom database and memory systems from scratch to support novel AI and robotics applications.
- • Implement real-time LLM token state management at large scale, ensuring low-latency and high-throughput performance across distributed systems.
- • Develop custom Unix OS distributions optimized for coexistence between human users and AI agents, with tailored resource allocation and security models.
- • Rethink user experience paradigms by integrating insights from human psychology and organizational behavior into interface design and workflow architecture.
- • Pursue compounding micro-optimizations across the full technology stack, from kernel-level operations to application-layer logic.
- • Work onsite five days a week in San Francisco, CA (South Park neighborhood), with no remote work options available.
- • Collaborate on systems-level infrastructure that bridges AI reasoning, real-time data persistence, and human-centered interaction models.
- • Solve technically unsolved problems with no existing industry solutions, requiring deep creativity and independent problem-solving.
- • Build large, complex, and maintainable systems at a pace significantly faster than industry norms, demonstrating exceptional engineering efficiency.
- • Apply advanced knowledge of graph databases, flexible data pipelines, and ontological modeling to structure dynamic AI state and knowledge graphs.
- • Translate psychological and behavioral research into product decisions that enhance usability, reduce cognitive load, and improve team alignment in human-AI collaboration.
- • Contribute to a fully in-person engineering culture focused on deep technical work, rapid iteration, and high autonomy in a well-funded startup environment.
- • Engage in cross-functional problem-solving with teams focused on robotics, AI reasoning, and human-system interaction, without managerial responsibilities.
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep obsession with novel, overlooked, or technically unsolved problems
- • Demonstrated ability to build large, complex, and maintainable systems in roughly one-third the time most engineers consider possible
- • Proficiency in one or more of: TypeScript, Rust, Python
- • Experience with graph databases, flexible data pipelines, or ontological modelling
- • Comfort applying psychology and organisational behaviour insights to product and UX decisions
- • Signal of outlier intelligence — top academic background or standout real-world experience (non-traditional backgrounds welcome)
