📋 Description
- • As a Member of Technical Staff - Post Training at Black Forest Labs, you will own the end-to-end post-training pipeline for multimodal generative models, transforming foundation models into production-ready products that power tools used by millions of creators worldwide.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include curating data, designing reward models, executing preference optimization (RLHF, DPO, RLAIF), conducting distillation and safety tuning, evaluating model performance across image, editing, and video modalities, and building high-throughput infrastructure to enable rapid iteration across the research team.
- • Black Forest Labs is a frontier AI research lab headquartered in Freiburg, Germany, with a growing presence in San Francisco, known for creating Latent Diffusion, Stable Diffusion, and FLUX — foundational technologies that have redefined generative AI for image and video creation.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in aligning generative models to human intent, ship measurable quality improvements that reach users, and contribute to pushing the state of the art in model personalization, multimodal post-training, and scalable AI infrastructure.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience owning post-training for a frontier generative model through release, including SFT, preference optimization (DPO or RLHF), distillation, and safety tuning, with documented quality improvements on human preferences or standard benchmarks.
- • Deep, hands-on experience across the full post-training stack: reward modeling, preference learning, RLHF/RLAIF, and personalization techniques — not limited to a single component.
- • Strong fluency in PyTorch, with a track record of writing clean, reusable research code that enables collaboration and reproducibility across teams.
- • Comfort working across multiple modalities, including text-to-image, image editing, multi-reference, and ideally video post-training.
- • Experience with distillation techniques (e.g., LADD, DMD, consistency models) or building high-throughput evaluation pipelines is a strong plus.
- • Bias toward shipping: focused on delivering tangible model-quality improvements that impact real users, not just academic publications.
