- • Build and ship full-stack product features for a voice AI platform used by over 1 million developers and powering over 1 million daily calls for enterprises like Amazon, Intuit, and New York Life.
- • Gain hands-on experience by making real voice calls using Vapi’s platform, integrating with LLMs, STT, TTS, and telephony providers to develop an end-to-end mental model of the system.
- • Own a core product area within the agent self-improvement loop or the trust and guardrails platform, driving features from initial concept through specification, design collaboration, evaluation loops, and production deployment.
- • Leverage AI coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor daily to accelerate development throughput and enhance product quality, with a clear understanding of their optimal use cases and limitations.
- • Ship product surfaces that are intuitive, beautiful, and adopted by technical users—mirroring the design standards of competitors and exceeding customer expectations.
- • Operate with full autonomy after 90 days, owning the complete agent improvement cycle: authoring, evaluation, deployment, observability, and iteration—without handholding from managers.
- • Collaborate directly with product managers and designers to shape product direction, contributing as a core voice in decisions that impact the entire developer experience.
- • Monitor real-time call observability data, analyze eval loops, and iteratively refine agent behavior based on production feedback from enterprise customers.
- • Work on a developer-facing product dashboard featuring Composer, Simulations, Monitoring, Knowledge Base, Versioning, and Deployments—with a focus on making non-deterministic systems feel predictable and magical.
- • Build and deploy production-grade voice assistants that transition from demo status to reliable, scalable solutions for Fortune 500 companies.
- • Cultivate deep customer empathy by observing real user interactions, shipping features with measurable outcomes, and taking ownership of the end-to-end user experience.
- • Work in a high-ownership culture where 70% of the team are former founders; you will be expected to read PRs, explore the product, and start building without waiting for formal direction.
- • Contribute to the evolution of a platform that is redefining the human interface for business applications through voice, with a billion calls already processed.
- • Use real-time feedback from production deployments to continuously improve agent performance, reliability, and trustworthiness across diverse enterprise use cases.
- • Iterate rapidly on product surfaces that empower developers to build, test, and deploy conversational AI agents without deep expertise in voice infrastructure.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years building product, with 2+ years at an early-stage company
- • Strong full-stack engineer, fluent in TypeScript, React, and a Node-based backend
- • Track record shipping beautiful product surfaces that customers love and competitors copy
- • Daily use of AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) with opinions about their effectiveness
- • Self-directed: ability to read PRs, explore the product, and start building without waiting on permission
- • Customer empathy and bias for action: ship, own outcomes, and care deeply about user experience
