- • Design, develop, and validate metering hardware and software systems for electricity, water, gas, and thermal energy submetering applications in multi-residential and commercial buildings.
- • Define and document technical design standards and best practices for submetering devices and integration protocols used across North American markets.
- • Lead cross-functional integration projects between Field Engineering, Product, Operations, and IT teams to ensure seamless deployment of metering solutions.
- • Conduct detailed energy consumption analysis across multiple utility commodities to optimize meter performance, billing accuracy, and client reporting.
- • Collaborate with field technicians and installation teams to translate field feedback into design improvements and product enhancements.
- • Perform root cause analysis on metering system failures, proposing engineering solutions to improve reliability and reduce service calls.
- • Ensure all meter designs comply with industry regulations, utility standards, and environmental sustainability requirements.
- • Support the development of remote reading and data transmission systems that enable real-time utility consumption tracking and billing automation.
- • Participate in the evaluation and selection of new sensor technologies, communication modules, and embedded systems for next-generation metering platforms.
- • Prepare technical documentation, including schematics, specifications, test plans, and user manuals for internal and client-facing use.
- • Work closely with procurement and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility, cost efficiency, and scalability of meter production.
- • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging technologies in smart metering, IoT connectivity, and energy data analytics to inform product roadmaps.
- • Represent Metergy in technical discussions with utility providers, building owners, and regulatory bodies regarding metering compliance and performance.
- • Support green financing initiatives by providing engineering data that validates energy reduction metrics used in sustainability reporting and green bond disclosures.
- • Travel to client sites and installation locations as needed to troubleshoot meter deployments and validate field performance against design specifications.
- • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Field Engineering team to enhance operational efficiency and technical quality.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- • Minimum 5 years of experience in meter design, utility instrumentation, or submetering systems
- • Proven experience with energy data analysis across electricity, water, gas, or thermal commodities
- • Strong proficiency in CAD tools, schematic design, and embedded systems development
