- • Build and deploy end-to-end ML systems for retrieval, ranking, categorization, and generative AI over large-scale unstructured healthcare data including patient records, claims, and workflow actions
- • Design and develop scalable training and inference infrastructure to support a fast-moving research team, including experiment tracking, benchmarking, and performance evaluation
- • Partner with Research Scientists to transition models from research to production by establishing clear handoff contracts, performance gates, and packaging standards
- • Collaborate with ML Platform & Ops teams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant rollouts of AI systems into production environments
- • Define and implement evaluation datasets, metrics, and validation strategies tied to real-world clinical and financial outcomes to bring scientific rigor to model development
- • Design ranking and triage models that determine optimal routing of tasks between AI agents and human operators across healthcare workflows
- • Establish feedback loops and data flywheels to continuously improve model performance based on production outcomes and operational data
- • Prototype new AI capabilities from 0 to 1, then harden them for enterprise-scale deployment across 95 of the top 100 U.S. health systems
- • Own the internal ML development environment, including instrumentation, monitoring, and tooling to support rapid experimentation and iteration
- • Work backwards from complex business problems to define scalable, explainable, and maintainable AI abstractions and system architectures
- • Mentor junior ML engineers and promote best practices in modeling, evaluation, and deployment across the AI team
- • Ensure AI/ML systems deliver measurable business value by partnering closely with software engineers, product managers, clinicians, and operational teams
- • Contribute to organizational-level technical initiatives as a Staff-level engineer, leading multiple teams or broad technical programs simultaneously
- • Deliver complete end-to-end projects independently at the Mid-level (L2), or lead larger, more complex initiatives with increased ambiguity and technical scope at L3 and Senior levels
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of software engineering experience
- • 2+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning
- • Proven track record of building and deploying production-grade ML systems at scale
- • Experience with large-scale unstructured data in healthcare or similar regulated domains
- • Strong skills in model development, evaluation, and deployment pipelines
- • Experience designing systems for retrieval, ranking, categorization, or generative AI
