- • Perform independent validations of financial and non-financial models critical to the organization’s operations, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and regulatory compliance across the entire model lifecycle.
- • Manage and oversee model validation projects conducted by external consulting firms and third-party contractors, ensuring deliverables meet internal standards and regulatory expectations.
- • Develop challenger models using alternative data sources, methodologies, and theoretical frameworks to rigorously test and challenge existing model outputs.
- • Maintain and update the comprehensive Model Inventory, ensuring all model information is current, accurate, and aligned with the model lifecycle status.
- • Review and assess model documentation created by model owners to verify adherence to regulatory standards (including SR 11-7, OCC 2011-12, FCA EM 31.1-2) and internal governance policies.
- • Evaluate and close out model-related issues by collaborating with model owners to ensure root causes are identified and remediation plans are effectively implemented.
- • Drive continuous improvement of the model risk management program by recommending enhancements to documentation templates, validation protocols, and governance procedures.
- • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Director of Model Risk Management and provide expert guidance to senior business leaders, executives, and external auditors on model risk and validation outcomes.
- • Engage directly with regulators and external auditors to represent the organization’s model risk posture and support examinations.
- • Execute complex, long-term strategic initiatives that directly influence the organization’s reputation, compliance posture, and financial stability.
- • Utilize advanced programming skills in R or Python to replicate champion models, perform sensitivity analyses, and develop robust challenger models with high precision.
- • Apply deep quantitative expertise to analyze complex data flows and model architectures, particularly in the context of CECL and regulatory stress testing.
- • Communicate highly technical model findings and risk assessments clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders across the organization.
- • Travel on a limited basis for team meetings, regulatory interactions, and stakeholder engagements.
- • Work within standard business hours, with occasional evening or weekend commitments required to meet project deadlines or regulatory timelines.
- • Perform all duties remotely with access to required digital tools and systems; occasional office visits permitted but not required.
🎯 Requirements
- • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline
- • Minimum 10 years of experience in quantitative model development and model validation within a highly regulated financial institution
- • At least 5 years of experience validating assumptions, qualitative inputs, and forecasting models used in regulatory stress testing and CECL
- • Expertise in R or Python for model replication, sensitivity analysis, and challenger model development
- • Thorough understanding of regulatory requirements including SR 11-7, OCC 2011-12, and FCA EM 31.1-2
- • Proven ability to manage external validation projects and lead cross-functional model risk initiatives
