Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Drive the evolution of geocoding systems from rule-based logic to machine learning-based matching and normalization, improving accuracy and scalability for billions of global address requests.
- • Build and enhance confidence and relevance scoring models to evaluate geocoding results, including developing automated systems for false-positive detection and correction.
- • Design, develop, and productionize data-driven solutions that directly improve the quality and reliability of geospatial data across international address datasets.
- • Explore and prototype novel use cases, such as solving "last meter" delivery challenges, leveraging geo-data to optimize final delivery segments.
- • Automate benchmarking and evaluation pipelines to continuously measure, track, and report model performance against defined KPIs and industry benchmarks.
- • Lead cross-team initiatives to align geocoding data strategy with broader company goals, ensuring consistency, scalability, and integration across platforms.
- • Mentor junior data scientists by providing technical guidance, reviewing code and model designs, and fostering best practices in ML engineering and data governance.
- • Integrate open-source and proprietary geospatial datasets with internal systems using Python and SQL to create unified, high-precision address resolution pipelines.
- • Utilize AWS services including Athena, SageMaker, and associated tooling to deploy, monitor, and scale machine learning models in production environments.
- • Implement and maintain data orchestration workflows using Airflow or Dagster to ensure reliable, repeatable data pipelines for model training and inference.
- • Enable data-informed decision-making through visualization tools like Metabase or QuickSight, translating complex geospatial insights into actionable product feedback.
- • Identify high-impact opportunities within large-scale, heterogeneous datasets to prioritize initiatives that deliver measurable improvements in geocoding quality.
- • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and operations teams to translate business needs into technical requirements for geospatial AI features.
- • Contribute to long-term data strategy by defining data standards, improving metadata quality, and ensuring compliance with data privacy and integrity protocols.
- • Maintain ownership over model performance from prototyping through deployment, including ongoing monitoring, retraining triggers, and feedback loop implementation.
- • Document model architectures, data sources, assumptions, and limitations to support transparency, auditability, and knowledge transfer across teams.
- • Participate in hybrid team workdays in Berlin’s Kreuzberg Better Space, while maintaining remote flexibility for up to 12 weeks per year.
- • Engage in a learning culture that encourages experimentation, rapid iteration, and peer-driven innovation within a diverse, international team of 130+ professionals.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience in Data Science with a proven track record of productionizing complex models and tackling geospatial data challenges.
- • Strong skills in Python and SQL, combined with hands-on experience in AWS (Athena, Sagemaker), Snowflake, and dbt.
- • Practical experience with data orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow or Dagster) and data visualization via Metabase or QuickSight.
- • Ability to autonomously develop new strategies from scratch and identify high-impact opportunities within vast datasets.
- • Strong ownership mindset and communication skills to drive cross-functional projects and mentor team members.
🏖️ Benefits
- • 30 vacation days in a 5-day/week working model.
- • Kindergarten grant and a Company Pension scheme.
- • Remote work flexibility for up to 12 weeks per year.
- • Modern, kid- and pet-friendly office in Berlin-Kreuzberg with free fruits, snacks, drinks, and coffee.
- • Regular team breakfasts, fitness & wellness classes, company runs, and other events.
- • Hybrid work model with weekly team days for collaboration and connection.
