📋 Description

• The Mortgage Underwriting Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring residential loan files are fully prepared, compliant, and ready for underwriting review, directly impacting loan approval timelines and customer satisfaction in a fast-paced, remote lending environment.
• This role supports the end-to-end mortgage lifecycle by bridging communication between loan officers, processors, borrowers, and underwriters, ensuring documentation accuracy and regulatory adherence to reduce risk and delays.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing and reviewing loan files prior to underwriting submission, analyzing borrower documentation (income, assets, credit, disclosures) for completeness and consistency, communicating with borrowers to collect missing documents and clarify underwriting conditions, coordinating and tracking outstanding underwriting conditions, ensuring compliance with lender guidelines and agency requirements (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA), maintaining accurate and timely updates in Loan Origination Systems (Encompass, Calyx) and CRM platforms, proactively identifying file risks such as documentation gaps or eligibility issues, and escalating potential approval delays to appropriate stakeholders.
• The role requires managing multiple loan files simultaneously with exceptional attention to detail, utilizing remote collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, Asana, ClickUp, Trello) to maintain workflow efficiency and team alignment across US time zones (EST–PST).

🎯 Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in mortgage processing, underwriting support, or residential lending operations
• Strong understanding of US mortgage documentation including income, assets, credit, and disclosure requirements
• Ability to manage multiple loan files simultaneously with strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills for client-facing interactions
• Prior remote work experience with fluency in collaboration tools (Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace, Asana, or similar) and ideally experience working with US or UK-based companies
