- • Join Mr D, a division of Takealot Group, as a Web Frontend Engineer to build and maintain high-scale web applications used by millions of customers across South Africa.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include writing performant, optimized code using modern Angular and SvelteKit, contributing to automated testing, participating in code reviews, collaborating with UX designers and QA teams, debugging frontend/backend issues, deploying features via CI/CD pipelines, and leveraging AI tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate development.
- • You’ll work within a skilled web development team reporting to a Web Development Manager with over 20 years of experience, in a culture that values growth, mentorship, and internal promotion within the fast-expanding Takealot Group.
- • This role offers the opportunity to deepen expertise in frontend engineering, AI-assisted workflows, and full-stack concepts while shaping development practices and advancing your career in a leading South African tech ecosystem.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3-4 years of focused JavaScript/TypeScript experience (Intermediate) or 5+ years (Senior)
- • Strong grasp of modern JavaScript (ES6+), TypeScript, Node.js, CSS mastery, DOM understanding, and API integration
- • Proficiency in Git, testing philosophy, performance optimization, responsive design, and estimation skills
