- • UltraViolet Cyber is seeking a highly experienced Network Security Engineer to support a federal customer’s Zscaler deployment in Arlington, VA, ensuring secure, resilient, and efficient network security operations for critical government infrastructure.
- • This role is essential to maintaining continuous protection against evolving cyber threats by managing and optimizing the full Zscaler suite (ZIA, ZPA, ZDX, ZCC) in a high-stakes federal environment where security, compliance, and uptime are non-negotiable.
- • Support a major federal customer in ongoing operations, support, and engineering with regards to the full Zscaler product suite (ZIA, ZPA, ZDX, ZCC) and related technologies.
- • Configure and tune the Zscaler system to optimize performance, reduce false positives, and enhance alerting accuracy based on real-time threat intelligence and network behavior.
- • Integrate Zscaler solutions with third-party security and networking technologies via APIs, including SIEM, SOAR, identity providers, and cloud security posture management tools.
- • Design and engineer network data flows to implement new secure connections, troubleshoot existing communication paths, and ensure seamless integration across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- • Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation including data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, user guides, operating procedures, system design documents, and disaster recovery playbooks.
- • Interface with federal customer executives, government technical management, and UltraViolet Cyber leadership to provide status updates, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations.
- • Support communications and security operations within major cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, and GCP, ensuring consistent policy enforcement and visibility across environments.
- • Conduct periodic reviews and improvements of disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure rapid restoration of services during incidents.
- • Deploy and manage virtual servers and private service edges in cloud and on-premises environments to support Zscaler architecture scalability and resilience.
- • Tune data protection standards (DLP, SSL inspection, threat prevention policies) to align with federal compliance requirements (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP).
- • Provide expert guidance on all aspects of Zscaler network and security capabilities to customer stakeholders, including application developers, IT operations, and security teams.
- • Support additional third-party network and security products as needed, including firewalls, proxies, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) tools.
- • Support cloud service providers (Azure, AWS, GCP) as needed, ensuring Zscaler policies are correctly applied to cloud workloads and traffic.
- • Provide internal consulting, technical guidance, and training to application developers, computer operations, and departmental clients to promote secure configuration and usage practices.
- • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrate strong ownership, and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
🎯 Requirements
- • Active U.S. Citizenship required for federal customer engagement and eligibility to undergo Federal Entry of Duty Background Investigation (BI) process.
- • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting Zscaler products (ZIA, ZPA, ZDX, ZCC) in enterprise or federal environments.
- • Proven experience integrating Zscaler with third-party technologies via APIs (REST/SOAP) and working with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP) in secure, regulated environments.
- • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, SSL/TLS, routing, switching) and security concepts (zero trust, SASE, DLP, threat prevention).
- • Ability to produce clear, accurate technical documentation (data flows, SOPs, system designs) and communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and executive stakeholders.
- • Experience working in high-compliance environments (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800-53, DoD SRG) and familiarity with federal security frameworks and audit requirements.
