  • • Serve as a NICET-certified Fire Alarm Field Engineer to validate fire alarm system installations across high-profile national retail locations.
  • • Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with NFPA 72, local codes, and manufacturer specifications for fire alarm systems.
  • • Troubleshoot complex fire alarm system malfunctions, including initiating devices, notification appliances, control panels, and communication circuits.
  • • Document inspection findings with detailed reports, photographs, and corrective action recommendations for client and internal teams.
  • • Partner with project managers, contractors, and facility personnel to coordinate field activities and resolve system deficiencies.
  • • Maintain accurate records of inspection schedules, system performance data, and compliance status for national retail program audits.
  • • Provide technical guidance to field teams and contractors on proper installation practices and code interpretation.
  • • Perform periodic re-inspections to verify resolution of previously identified non-compliances and system upgrades.
  • • Utilize industry-standard testing equipment to verify system functionality, including smoke detectors, heat sensors, pull stations, and annunciators.
  • • Ensure all field work adheres to Wachter’s quality assurance protocols and safety standards.
  • • Communicate directly with clients to explain system performance, regulatory requirements, and recommended improvements.
  • • Travel to assigned retail locations across the United States as required to support the national program.
  • • Maintain current NICET certification and stay updated on evolving fire safety codes and industry best practices.
  • • Collaborate with the engineering and compliance teams to escalate systemic issues and contribute to process improvements.
  • • Represent Wachter professionally in client environments, maintaining a reputation for technical excellence and reliability.
  • • Respond to urgent service requests related to fire alarm system failures or code violations in a timely manner.
  • • Coordinate with local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to ensure inspections meet regulatory expectations.
  • • Prepare and submit weekly activity reports, travel logs, and time entries through company systems.
  • • Adhere to all company policies regarding vehicle use, PPE, and on-site safety procedures.
  • • Participate in quarterly training sessions and technical briefings to enhance field engineering competencies.

🎯 Requirements

  • • NICET Level II or higher certification in Fire Alarm Systems
  • • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on field experience inspecting and troubleshooting commercial fire alarm systems
  • • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • • Ability to travel extensively across the United States
  • • Proficiency in reading and interpreting fire alarm schematics and technical manuals
  • • Strong written and verbal communication skills for client reporting and collaboration
