- • Virta Health is at the forefront of a revolution in healthcare, dedicated to reversing type 2 diabetes and obesity for a billion people worldwide. Recognizing the limitations of current treatment paradigms, which leave over half of the US adult population grappling with diabetes or prediabetes and soaring obesity rates, Virta offers a groundbreaking solution. Our innovative approach integrates cutting-edge technology, personalized nutrition strategies, and a reimagined virtual care delivery model. With over $350 million in funding from leading investors, Virta partners with major health plans, employers, and government organizations to empower their members and employees to reclaim their health and transform their lives. Join our mission to make a profound impact on global health by reversing metabolic diseases.
- • As a Nurse Practitioner Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role within the Virta Medical Group, reporting directly to the Associate Chief Medical Officer. This leadership position involves guiding and mentoring a dedicated team of 8-10 Nurse Practitioners while also managing a part-time patient panel, equivalent to 0.6 FTE. The core objective of the Virta Medical Group is to deliver exceptional clinical care to our members, working in close partnership with other departments within Virta Health Corporation. You will be instrumental in managing both the people and the processes within your team to ensure the practice achieves its goals with maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
- • Your responsibilities will encompass several key areas, starting with providing exemplary quality oversight for medical care delivery. This includes proactively identifying and implementing improvements to workflows that are critical for patient safety and treatment efficacy. You will be responsible for the continuous monitoring of quality and safety standards, conducting monthly reviews of clinician quality and efficiency metrics with your team members, and performing clinical quality assurance for both your team and potentially other clinicians.
- • A significant aspect of your role will be dedicated to the growth and development of your team members. You will cultivate a high-performing team of clinicians, actively preparing high achievers for future leadership opportunities. Simultaneously, you will proactively manage the performance of any team members not meeting expectations, ensuring a consistent standard of care and professional growth across the board. Your management duties will include overseeing the onboarding process for new Continuity Clinicians, conducting regular one-on-one meetings to discuss challenges, solicit ideas for improvement, and provide constructive feedback. You will also facilitate regular virtual and occasional in-person team meetings to foster cohesion and drive progress on common projects. Furthermore, you will review quarterly cross-team feedback and conduct semiannual performance reviews to support professional development and address performance.
- • Fostering effective collaboration is another critical component of this role. You will actively participate in regular reviews of clinical events, ensuring lessons learned are integrated into practice. You will work collaboratively with other team members, whether they are matrixed or directly reporting to you, including Registered Nurses and other support staff. A key responsibility is to ensure these team members remain connected to the team's objectives and the overarching Virta mission and company goals. You will conduct biweekly reviews of intake quality and patient feedback to identify areas for enhancement and will be involved in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new team members, contributing to the team's continued growth.
- • Leading strategic clinical initiatives will be a core function of your role. You will spearhead strategic initiatives across Virta within specific clinical program areas. These initiatives are vital for delivering outstanding patient care and achieving business objectives. Leaders are expected to drive these initiatives within their clinical teams and then collaborate effectively across Virta to ensure their successful implementation and impact. This involves translating strategic goals into actionable plans and motivating your team to achieve them.
- • In addition to your leadership duties, you will also serve as a direct care provider, leading by example. You will manage a panel of Virta patients, demonstrating best practices in care delivery and supporting your team members in enhancing the quality of care they provide to Virta patients. This dual role ensures you remain grounded in the realities of patient care while guiding your team towards excellence.
- • This role requires a deep understanding of managing a patient panel with conditions such as diabetes, pre-diabetes, and obesity, applying Virta's evidence-based approach to metabolic health.
