- • Lead day-to-day operations of the Onboarding Risk team across NA, UK/EU, and APAC regions, ensuring consistent, high-quality risk decisions and throughput.
- • Manage, coach, and develop team members and leads, setting clear goals, feedback rhythms, and performance standards to foster growth and accountability.
- • Serve as the subject-matter expert for onboarding risk processes including KYB, KYC, screening, and final reviews, applying risk assessment and decisioning frameworks.
- • Own, document, maintain, and continuously improve onboarding risk procedures, controls, and playbooks to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
- • Provide expert support on complex or high-risk applications, making sound judgment calls with incomplete information and ensuring decisions are well-reasoned and properly recorded.
- • Partner with Legal, Support, Product, Sales, Operations, and Engineering teams to align risk outcomes with customer experience and business objectives.
- • Manage and influence cross-functional relationships to unblock decisions, resolve issues, and drive process improvements across departments.
- • Develop and implement onboarding processes that reflect evolving global payments legislation and Card Scheme rules, ensuring policies are applied effectively and proportionately.
- • Evolve the team’s KPI structure in collaboration with the Head of Risk & Compliance to meet goals while maintaining a supportive and inclusive team environment.
- • Communicate clearly and concisely with stakeholders at all levels, translating risk decisions into customer-appropriate narratives when necessary.
- • Handle escalations involving fraud, payment risk, and compliance concerns, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
- • Demonstrate broad knowledge of cross-functional dependencies to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of onboarding risk queues.
- • Collaborate on projects with Legal, Support, and Product teams to enhance the overall Risk & Compliance function at Paddle.
- • Assist in recommending and deciding on company-wide risk-related matters alongside the Head of Risk & Compliance.
- • Utilize Artificial Intelligence in everyday risk processes to improve efficiency and decision accuracy.
- • Work across multiple time zones to ensure global coverage and alignment of risk standards and team priorities.
- • Foster a culture of continuous learning, encouraging team members to explore better ways of doing things and embracing change in a fast-paced environment.
- • Maintain a positive, solutions-oriented attitude, proactively identifying gaps and proposing improvements to existing processes.
- • Ensure all risk decisions are documented internally and externally as required, supporting audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
🎯 Requirements
- • 4+ years experience in Onboarding or Credit Risk spaces
- • 2+ years experience working in Merchant Acquiring, E-Commerce, or a similar role at a FinTech
- • 3+ years experience in team management
- • Comfortable working with teams in multiple time zones
- • Fluent English speaker and writer with excellent communication skills
- • Experience and understanding of Card Scheme rules and global payments legislation (desired but not required)
