  • • As an Optical Research Scientist at CoMind Technologies Inc., you will contribute to the development of non-invasive neuromonitoring technology designed to revolutionize clinical brain monitoring and improve patient outcomes worldwide.
  • • This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge medical devices at the intersection of optics, engineering, neuroscience, and clinical applications, directly supporting life-saving innovations.
  • • Day to day, you will conduct laboratory and in-vivo testing of new optical neuromonitoring systems, including setup, calibration, and execution of experiments on healthy volunteers and tissue-mimicking phantoms.
  • • You will support the development of novel optical and electronic systems by integrating hardware components, troubleshooting performance issues, and validating signal fidelity under controlled conditions.
  • • You will design and implement experimental methodologies to evaluate device performance, ensuring robustness, reproducibility, and clinical relevance through rigorous testing protocols.
  • • You will process and analyze optical data using programming tools (e.g., Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW) to extract physiological signals, apply filtering techniques, and quantify key parameters such as blood flow and oxygenation.
  • • You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, neuroscientists, and product developers to translate experimental findings into design improvements and technical specifications.
  • • You will summarize results, prepare detailed scientific reports, and present findings to research, product, and leadership teams to inform strategic decisions and milestones.
  • • You will embrace AI as a core part of your workflow, leveraging machine learning tools for data analysis, pattern recognition, and predictive modeling to enhance device intelligence and usability.
  • • You will work at least four days per week from CoMind’s Kings Cross office in London, with one flexible remote day per week, fostering collaboration while maintaining work-life balance.
  • • You will contribute to a culture of scientific rigor and innovation, where interdisciplinary teamwork and continuous learning are essential to advancing neuromonitoring technology.
  • • In this role, you will gain hands-on experience with emerging medical device development, deepen your expertise in biomedical optics and physiological signal processing, and build a portfolio of impactful research that bridges lab innovation and clinical need.
  • • You will have the opportunity to grow into a technical leader within the organization, contributing to patents, publications, and regulatory pathways that could shape the future of non-invasive brain monitoring.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Background in physics, medical physics, biomedical engineering, or a closely related discipline
  • • Significant experience in laboratory testing and development of physiological measurement systems, including experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis
  • • Hands-on experience with in-vivo physiological signal acquisition using experimental or prototype technologies
  • • Fluency in at least one programming language for data collection and analysis (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or LabVIEW)
  • • Experience working effectively in interdisciplinary teams
  • • Outstanding communication skills, including scientific writing and report generation
