- • Design and execute characterisation test plans for optical and optoelectronic components, sub-systems, and complete device assemblies from initial concept through to manufacturing release
- • Build and maintain custom characterisation systems involving hardware interfacing, instrument control, and automated test routines using Python
- • Develop, own, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for optical characterisation methods to ensure repeatability, traceability, and compliance with medical device quality requirements
- • Design and conduct Verification and Validation (V&V) testing aligned with CoMind’s design controls, generating regulatory evidence to support submissions for clinical approval
- • Process and analyse complex characterisation datasets to extract performance insights, identify failure modes, and assess design risks
- • Produce clear, well-structured technical reports and documentation for internal teams and regulatory authorities
- • Collaborate closely with optical, electronics, software, and clinical teams to ensure test results directly inform product design iterations
- • Liaise with laser and photodetector suppliers to share test data analysis and support component selection and improvement
- • Work within a regulated environment adhering to medical device standards, ensuring all testing practices meet required compliance frameworks
- • Utilise AI tools daily as a core part of the workflow to enhance collaboration, innovation, and efficiency in test planning and data analysis
- • Maintain and calibrate optical measurement instruments to ensure accuracy and consistency across all testing activities
- • Translate complex technical measurement data into actionable feedback for engineering and research teams to guide product development
- • Support the transition of optical systems from prototype to manufacturing by validating testability, yield, and reproducibility at scale
- • Participate in cross-functional design reviews to ensure testability is integrated early in the product development lifecycle
- • Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methodologies through innovation, automation, and documentation refinement
- • Adhere to CoMind’s hybrid work policy: minimum four days per week in the Kings Cross office with one flexible remote day per week
🎯 Requirements
- • Practical and theoretical skills in laser-based optics with hands-on experience in optical and optoelectronic measurements
- • Proficiency in Python for instrument control, data acquisition, and automated test routines
- • Experience developing and executing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in a technical environment
- • Strong analytical skills with the ability to process complex datasets and communicate findings clearly in written reports
- • Working knowledge of basic electronic circuits and digital communication protocols
