- • Serve as an Outside Sales Account Manager responsible for selling MRO (maintenance, repair, and operations) supplies and related products to an established portfolio of multi-family housing (apartment communities) customers in the Pontiac and Auburn Hills territory.
- • Maintain and grow sales with existing customers while actively prospecting and acquiring new accounts to expand and diversify the customer base.
- • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers and influencers across all levels of multi-family property management organizations to ensure long-term customer retention and growth.
- • Implement strategic plans to increase business presence and market share within the assigned geographic territory.
- • Utilize consultative selling and solution-selling approaches to understand customer needs and recommend appropriate HD Supply products, including hardware, electrical, lighting, and other facilities maintenance items.
- • Manage sales volume through consistent field visits, requiring operation of a personal vehicle for more than 20% of the average work week; must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
- • Attend monthly company-sponsored association meetings, local trade shows, and represent HD Supply at regional or national events as required.
- • Collaborate with internal leadership to analyze market trends, customer feedback, and competitor activity to inform sales strategies and product offerings.
- • Share real-time market insights and competitor intelligence with relevant internal teams to support broader organizational decision-making.
- • Leverage handheld technology and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) to track customer interactions, manage pipelines, and report sales activity accurately and in real time.
- • Demonstrate proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis, reporting, and identifying sales trends or anomalies in customer accounts.
- • Meet or exceed assigned quarterly and annual sales goals in a remote, field-based role with minimal direct supervision.
- • Operate in a field environment with moderate physical discomfort from exposure to dust, fumes, or odors during site visits to property maintenance facilities.
- • Lift and handle moderate-weight materials (8–20 pounds) as needed during product demonstrations or customer site visits.
- • Travel occasionally (less than 10% of the time) for meetings, training, or events outside the primary territory.
- • Provide general guidance or training to junior sales or support personnel as needed.
- • Ensure compliance with all company policies, including adherence to Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion standards.
🎯 Requirements
- • 3 or more years of business-to-business (B2B) field sales experience
- • Direct sales experience with multi-family housing communities or facilities maintenance customers
- • Proficiency in Salesforce or similar CRM systems and MS Excel
- • Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- • Knowledge of facilities products such as hardware, electrical, and lighting
- • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals in a remote, territory-based role
