- • Own end-to-end payment strategy across ACH, card networks, and banking partners, designed to scale to millions of transactions per day
- • Design and optimize payment processing infrastructure for speed, efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness at high volume
- • Develop and own the payments roadmap, aligning strategic vision with execution across Engineering, Finance, and Operations
- • Build and maintain a fully auditable reconciliation framework that accurately tracks transactions across internal systems and external partners
- • Drive automation initiatives to eliminate manual work in exception management, reconciliation workflows, and cost attribution
- • Partner with Treasury and Risk teams to optimize float management, settlement timing, and capital efficiency
- • Lead fraud prevention and dispute resolution strategy across ACH and card payment channels, including detection, response, and recovery
- • Manage ACH risk end-to-end: handling unauthorized transactions, returns, network compliance, and exception resolution
- • Serve as the internal authority on payment network rules, edge cases, and risk exposure across all payment rails
- • Translate complex technical constraints in payment systems into clear strategic priorities and communicate them to Engineering, Compliance, Finance, and Risk stakeholders
- • Work directly with transaction-level data to diagnose system failures, surface operational patterns, and inform decision-making
- • Drive cross-functional execution with Engineering, Risk, Operations, and Compliance teams to continuously improve the payments stack
- • Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to ensure payment systems meet scale, compliance, and user experience requirements
- • Act as the primary point of contact for banking partners and card network relationships, ensuring adherence to operational and regulatory standards
- • Monitor and respond to real-time payment failures, settlement discrepancies, and network outages with minimal downtime
- • Maintain documentation of payment workflows, failure modes, and mitigation strategies to ensure organizational knowledge continuity
- • Balance innovation with regulatory compliance in the design and evolution of payment infrastructure
- • Lead incident response for critical payment disruptions and implement root cause analyses to prevent recurrence
- • Align payment operations with corporate financial controls, audit requirements, and internal compliance frameworks
- • Champion operational excellence through data-driven decisions, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of experience in payments, within product management, payment operations, or a combination of both
- • Deep working knowledge of ACH and card networks: the rules, the edge cases, the failure modes, and how to build systems that handle them at scale
- • Proven track record building or operating high-volume payment systems with millions of transactions per day, optimized for speed and cost efficiency
- • Hands-on expertise in payments fraud, dispute resolution, and ACH risk management
- • Strong project management skills to align and drive execution across Risk, Engineering, Compliance, and Finance simultaneously
- • Comfortable working directly with transaction-level data to diagnose problems, surface patterns, and drive decisions
