📋 Description

• Payment Operations Specialist (6 Month FTC) at tem, a company rebuilding the energy transaction to make it transparent and fair by putting power back in the hands of customers and tackling access to low-cost electricity through AI-native transaction infrastructure.
• The role involves owning the end-to-end monthly £20m+ payment run, ensuring accurate billing and collection, reconciling incoming funds, resolving edge cases such as BACS returns and misattributed funds, and reducing key-person risk through documentation and process de-risking.
• tem is scaling internationally after a $75 million Series B funding round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, with modern utility product RED already facilitating thousands of business customers and billions in energy transaction value, aiming to rearchitect market infrastructure for transparency, efficiency, and sustainability.
• The person will learn to manage high-stakes payment operations in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment, gain exposure to energy/utilities payments and automation opportunities, and contribute to building resilient, documented processes while working remotely with flexible hours and clear core hours.

🎯 Requirements

• Deep, hands-on experience running high-volume, complex payment or billing operations
• A track record of owning reconciliation end to end in a regulated or complex-transaction environment
• Strong first-principles operational thinking - can take a messy process and reflow it cleanly
• Available to start quickly and comfortable operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
• Energy / utilities payments exposure (half-hourly metering, the utilities layer)
• Exposure to automating or systematising payment operations
