- • Process and interpret Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) for over 175 local unions to ensure accurate payroll entries for unionized employees.
- • Calculate and report union health & welfare and pension contributions monthly, ensuring compliance with contracted deadlines.
- • Maintain and report accurate union dues deductions as directed by local unions.
- • Prepare and remit weekly union 401(k) contributions in accordance with applicable agreements.
- • Audit payroll cycles to verify accuracy of deductions and transactions including retro calculations, union dues, Department of Labor Regular Rate of Pay, FLSA overtime premiums, and union benefit premiums.
- • Process special union payments such as vacation buybacks, boot allowances, safety bonuses, and other contractually mandated compensation.
- • Collaborate with HR Management, Total Rewards, HRIS, Field Management, and cross-functional payroll teams (tax, time, and attendance) to ensure payroll integrity.
- • Generate and prepare payroll reports as requested by internal stakeholders.
- • Support knowledge transfer and team development by mentoring and training other payroll team members.
- • Perform payroll system testing and configuration tasks as assigned to support system improvements and compliance.
- • Handle garnishment processing as a primary focus area for this role.
- • Manage confidential payroll data across internal and external payroll systems with strict adherence to privacy protocols.
- • Apply basic knowledge of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) regular rate of pay calculations to ensure compliance in overtime determinations.
- • Work with multi-state payroll regulations and ensure accurate application across diverse union agreements.
- • Utilize intermediate Excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP for data analysis and reporting.
- • Operate payroll systems such as Workday, ADP, Lawson, Ceridian, or Kronos to execute payroll functions.
- • Support large-scale payroll operations for companies with 10,000+ employees.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 3 years of payroll, finance, or related experience
- • Experience processing payroll for large companies (10,000+ employees)
- • Experience with multiple union payrolls and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs)
- • Experience with Workday or similar HCM systems
- • Intermediate proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP)
- • Experience with payroll applications (e.g., ADP, Lawson, Ceridian, Kronos)
