- • The Payroll and Payroll Tax Administrator plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing for Best Friends Animal Society, directly supporting the organization’s mission by safeguarding employee compensation integrity and regulatory adherence.
- • This remote position is essential to maintaining payroll reliability across a distributed workforce, ensuring that staff are paid correctly and on time while managing complex federal, state, and local payroll tax obligations.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include entering and validating time, earnings, deductions, and tax data into the Workday payroll system to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- • Collaborate with the Senior Manager of Payroll to modify employee data, develop custom reports, validate changes, and communicate impacts to stakeholders across the organization.
- • Serve as a key support resource for the Workday payroll system, troubleshooting issues and ensuring smooth payroll processing cycles.
- • Partner with leadership to design and implement procedures for handling payroll exceptions and process changes that affect reporting or disbursements.
- • Continuously monitor federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements, updating tax rates and ensuring timely filing and payment of obligations, including state unemployment accounts.
- • Review and maintain state and local payroll tax configurations in Workday for accurate company and employee reporting.
- • Coordinate with employees and managers at all levels to ensure timely submission, approval, and processing of timecards before payroll deadlines.
- • Verify that all time is submitted and approved per schedule and conduct pre-final payroll audits to catch discrepancies before processing.
- • Oversee payroll deduction records to ensure correct withholdings for benefits, garnishments, and other authorized deductions.
- • Review and respond to notices from federal, state, and local agencies regarding payroll tax compliance, taking appropriate action as needed.
- • Manage payroll tax assignments for employees when address changes occur, ensuring proper jurisdiction and withholding accuracy.
