You will be the go-to expert for all things payroll in Italy, acting as a critical link between our global finance and HR operations and our local team.
- • As the Payroll Lead, your primary responsibility will be the end-to-end management of the Italian payroll cycle. This includes meticulous data collection, validation, and processing, ensuring all statutory deductions, taxes, and contributions are correctly calculated and remitted in accordance with Italian labor laws and regulations. You will work closely with our internal teams, including HR, Finance, and Legal, as well as external payroll providers and government agencies, to guarantee a smooth and compliant payroll operation.

This includes understanding and applying complex tax laws, social security regulations, and any other relevant employment legislation that affects payroll. Your expertise will be crucial in mitigating risks and ensuring Remote’s adherence to all legal requirements.

Your insights will help shape best practices for payroll management within a rapidly growing, globally distributed organization.
- • You will be responsible for managing relationships with third-party payroll vendors, ensuring they meet contractual obligations and service level agreements. This includes regular performance reviews, issue resolution, and identifying opportunities for process improvements. Your ability to effectively manage these external partnerships will be key to maintaining operational excellence.
- • Furthermore, you will play a vital role in employee support, acting as a primary point of contact for payroll-related queries from our Italian employees. You will provide clear, accurate, and timely responses, assisting with issues related to payslips, deductions, benefits, and other payroll matters. Your empathetic and professional approach will contribute to a positive employee experience.
- • You will also be involved in the continuous improvement of our payroll systems and processes. This may include identifying opportunities for automation, implementing new technologies, and streamlining workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Your proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation will be highly valued.
- • This role requires a deep understanding of the Italian payroll landscape, including specific nuances related to employment contracts, collective bargaining agreements, and any regional variations that may apply. You will ensure that all payroll runs are reconciled accurately, and that appropriate documentation is maintained for audit purposes.
- • You will contribute to the financial planning and forecasting related to payroll costs, providing accurate data and analysis to the finance department. This includes understanding the impact of new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, and other payroll-related events on overall labor costs.
- • Ultimately, as the Payroll Lead for Italy, you will be a guardian of payroll integrity, ensuring that our employees are paid correctly and on time, while upholding Remote's commitment to fair and transparent compensation practices. Your dedication to accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement will be fundamental to the success of our operations in Italy and our global mission.
