- • Own and scale the full People Operations foundation across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, contracts, offboarding, employee records, HRIS data hygiene, and policy documentation.
- • Build and maintain reliable, compliant HR workflows aligned with Dutch employment law while adapting practices for a distributed European team.
- • Manage probation tracking and ensure managers conduct timely performance review conversations with clear follow-up.
- • Collaborate with Finance on payroll processing, employment cost tracking, and approvals, coordinating with external legal and payroll advisors as needed.
- • Support end-to-end hiring operations: role setup, interview coordination, candidate communication, offer workflows, and hiring process discipline.
- • Partner with technical recruiters to improve niche talent sourcing, candidate pipeline quality, and hiring priorities for engineering and deep-tech roles.
- • Coordinate 30% ruling applications for eligible employees in the Netherlands with external advisors.
- • Maintain and continuously improve the employee handbook and core people documentation to ensure clarity and consistency.
- • Identify and escalate people-related risks early to the COO and leadership team with clear recommendations.
- • Design and implement lightweight trackers, templates, checklists, and dashboards using Notion, Ashby, Slack, and AI tools to reduce manual work and increase visibility.
- • Turn ambiguous HR challenges into structured workflows with defined owners, timelines, and next steps.
- • Drive follow-through across hiring managers, external advisors, and internal stakeholders to ensure process adherence without adding bureaucracy.
- • Support remote and international hiring across Europe, including employment structure, contract compliance, relocation logistics, and onboarding for non-NL hires.
- • Gradually help design future People systems including performance reviews, salary calibration, role clarity frameworks, and scaling the People function.
- • Use modern tools like ChatGPT and AI agents to automate documentation, streamline manager support, and improve hiring efficiency.
- • Balance empathy with accountability, helping first-time managers become more effective leaders through clear guidance and process support.
- • Operate independently in a startup environment with minimal existing HR infrastructure, building systems from the ground up.
- • Maintain strict compliance with Dutch labor regulations while ensuring scalability for a growing, distributed European workforce.
- • Champion a culture of clarity, fairness, and ownership in People Operations — avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy while ensuring consistency and reliability.
- • Work closely with leadership to align People Operations with the company’s mission in deep-tech, autonomy, perception, and defense applications.
- • Act as the primary point of contact for all day-to-day HR administrative needs across the organization.
- • Continuously evaluate and improve tools and processes to make People Operations faster, clearer, and less manual.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5–10 years of HR generalist, People Operations, or HR operations experience in the Netherlands
- • Experience supporting remote or distributed teams across multiple European countries
- • Strong knowledge of Dutch employment law and international hiring practices
- • Proven ability to build and document scalable HR workflows in fast-growing startups or scale-ups
- • Proficiency with HR tools such as Notion, Ashby, HRIS platforms, Slack, and AI agents
- • Strong project management skills with discipline in tracking owners, timelines, and follow-up
