📋 Description

• The Platform Consultant Senior Expert (Software Architecture & Enablement Focus) at Allstate serves as a hands-on technical authority who designs, evolves, and enables enterprise-scale platforms supporting both customer-facing and internal engineering teams.
• Day to day, the role involves designing scalable platform architectures, driving API and system design decisions, providing technical guidance to engineering teams, reviewing integrations, occasionally contributing code (5–10%), mentoring senior engineers, and aligning technical solutions with business and technology roadmaps.
• Allstate is a 90+ year-old innovator in insurance and protection services, known for leadership in telematics, pricing sophistication, and device/identity protection, with a mission to protect families from life’s uncertainties through collaborative, forward-thinking engineering.
• In this role, the individual will deepen their impact as a technical leader, strengthen their ability to influence architecture without direct authority, gain experience in regulated enterprise environments, and shape engineering practices across teams by mentoring, advising, and validating designs through light coding.

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, architecture, or platform roles
• Experience designing and supporting enterprise-scale distributed systems
• Strong hands-on experience with Java and/or JavaScript
• Experience with API design and service-based architectures
• Experience operating applications in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
• Ability to guide teams through architectural tradeoffs
