- • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to engineering teams across Allstate Technology Solutions, guiding secure platform design and implementation in alignment with outcome-based delivery principles
- • Embed secure-by-design practices and rigorous threat modeling into the development lifecycle to ensure security is foundational, not retrofitted
- • Define and communicate Allstate’s security posture clearly to both technical teams and senior business leadership to enable informed decision-making
- • Lead the ideation and implementation of innovative security controls that elevate the organization’s embedded security maturity and challenge existing norms
- • Architect and deliver large-scale distributed systems using cloud-native microservices on AWS, Azure, or equivalent platforms, ensuring scalability, high availability, and performance
- • Mentor engineers and platform consultants in systems thinking, reusable design patterns, and modern engineering practices including Agile/XP, DevOps, paired programming, TDD, and CI/CD automation
- • Drive adoption of Zero Trust architecture, standardized security controls, and enterprise-wide architectural best practices across diverse product domains
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with Security Operations, data science teams, and other engineering units to implement proactive defenses and leverage analytics/AI for enhanced platform capabilities
- • Participate in Discovery & Framing sessions, architectural reviews, and strategic planning to influence technical direction and align security outcomes with business goals
- • Promote and enforce architectural standards focused on simplification, reuse, and scalability across the enterprise
- • Apply expert knowledge of modern programming languages (Java, JavaScript, Go, Rust, F#, Elixir, Haskell, Clojure) and frameworks (Spring Boot) to design robust RESTful APIs and secure software systems
- • Utilize advanced development tools including IntelliJ, VS Code, Git/GitHub, and AI-powered development assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to enhance efficiency and code quality
- • Implement and advise on cryptographic protocols (AES, TLS, Argon2, elliptic curve cryptography) to safeguard sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory and enterprise security standards
- • Champion API-first design and specification-driven development using OpenAPI/Swagger to enable scalable, discoverable, and AI-assisted services
- • Integrate automated security checks into CI/CD pipelines and apply behavior-driven development (BDD) practices to improve system reliability and reduce vulnerabilities
- • Stay current with emerging technologies including AI/ML, knowledge graphs, and advanced analytics, and evaluate their application to improve platform reliability, developer velocity, and security capabilities
- • Actively engage in agile ceremonies and foster a culture of continuous learning, iterative delivery, and technical excellence
- • Provide technical leadership without direct supervisory responsibilities, influencing outcomes through collaboration, mentorship, and architectural guidance
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, platform development, or architecture roles within complex enterprise environments
- • Expert-level knowledge of Agile/XP and DevOps methodologies, including CI/CD automation, TDD, and paired programming
- • Hands-on expertise in architecting cloud-native microservices on Docker/Kubernetes using AWS, Azure, or equivalent platforms
- • Deep understanding of secure-by-design principles, Zero Trust architecture, and advanced threat modeling practices
- • Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical and security concepts to both engineering teams and senior business leaders
- • Proficiency in Java and JavaScript ecosystems, with familiarity with additional programming paradigms (e.g., Go, Rust, functional languages)

- • Annual compensation range of $160,000 – $230,000 based on experience and qualifications
