Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the full audio lifecycle for The Dispatch’s expanding portfolio of podcasts—currently multiple weekly shows—turning raw multitrack recordings into broadcast-ready episodes that meet NPR-level technical standards while preserving each host’s unique voice and pacing.
- • Engineer every stage of post-production: surgical noise reduction, transparent EQ, tasteful compression, loudness normalization to –16 LUFS, and final mastering; weave in music beds, stingers, and transitions that heighten narrative tension without ever sounding “produced.”
- • Provide real-time technical support during live tapings and remote recordings, troubleshooting Riverside, local double-ender tracks, and on-site multichannel rigs so hosts can focus on ideas, not cables.
- • Direct recording sessions when producers are unavailable—setting gain structure, coaching guests on mic technique, and keeping energy high—while diplomatically managing big personalities and tight deadlines.
- • Build a scalable, organized asset library: consistent file-naming conventions, template sessions, and automated export presets that let the team launch new shows in hours, not weeks.
- • Edit companion video versions of each episode: sync multicam angles, punch in on reactions, balance color, and add branded motion graphics (lower-thirds, captions, chapter markers) so our YouTube presence feels premium and unmistakably “Dispatch.”
- • Generate micro-content—60-second highlight reels, audiograms, quote cards—optimized for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and Twitter, driving discovery and funneling new listeners back to long-form episodes.
- • Collaborate with editorial, marketing, and membership teams to experiment with new formats (live Q&As, subscriber-only deep dives, limited-run narrative series) that deepen audience engagement and reduce churn.
- • Establish and maintain a living style guide that codifies audio levels, video aspect ratios, color palettes, and typography so every release—whether a flagship show or a spontaneous bonus—feels cohesive.
- • Monitor analytics across Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube, translating listener drop-off and retention data into actionable tweaks in pacing, structure, and promotional cut-downs.
- • Stay ahead of platform changes (YouTube’s new podcast page, Spotify’s video expansion) and recommend workflow upgrades—hardware, software, or AI tools—that keep The Dispatch at the cutting edge without bloated budgets.
- • Champion a culture of respectful, fact-based discourse by ensuring every edit preserves context, removes filler without distortion, and elevates the clarity of arguments our paying members rely on.
