- • As a Pohnpeian-English Phone Interpreter with LanguageLine Solutions, you will play a vital role in breaking down language and cultural barriers for limited-English speakers and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing across critical sectors such as healthcare, government, law enforcement, and emergency services.
- • Your day-to-day responsibilities include responding promptly to interpreting sessions, accurately rendering meaning between Pohnpeian and English speakers, maintaining professionalism and neutrality during emotionally charged or high-stress calls (including 911 and medical situations), and adhering to strict interpretation protocols while working remotely from a secure, quiet home office.

🎯 Requirements
- • Fluency in Pohnpeian and English with strong cultural competency and ability to assess regional and accent differences
- • Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills to ensure high accuracy during interpretation
- • Ability to remain neutral, objective, and calm during sensitive or emotionally charged calls, including end-of-life, medical, or crisis situations
- • High school diploma or equivalent; education or experience in language-related fields (teaching, translation, interpretation) preferred
- • Legally authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship requirements; must be at least 18 years of age
- • Access to a dedicated personal device (Windows, MacOS, ChromeOS, iPadOS, or Android) and a high-speed internet connection (minimum 5 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload, <300 ms ping, <30 ms jitter)
- • Must have a quiet, secure workspace free from background noise or distraction
