- • Design and own the AI foundation powering generative AI applications across Rula Health’s mental healthcare platform, ensuring seamless integration into patient engagement and provider workflows at scale.
- • Architect core platform primitives including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agentic loops, and orchestration systems using frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex to enable scalable, reliable AI behavior.
- • Build production-grade, durable AI systems that operate under strict clinical and regulatory constraints, balancing innovation with safety, accuracy, and compliance in a regulated healthcare environment.
- • Lead the development and maintenance of MLOps infrastructure, including data pipelines, model evaluation frameworks, and observability systems to enable continuous monitoring and improvement of AI models.
- • Implement and optimize LLM integration patterns such as RAG, agentic workflows, and prompt engineering techniques using foundation models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and other leading providers.
- • Collaborate with clinical, product, and engineering teams to translate real-world mental healthcare needs into technical requirements for AI system design and deployment.
- • Establish and enforce technical standards for AI safety, model interpretability, factual accuracy, and human alignment within the platform’s AI applications.
- • Serve as a technical multiplier by mentoring senior engineers, reviewing architecture proposals, and driving best practices in AI system design across the engineering organization.
- • Evaluate and implement tools and methodologies for monitoring model performance, detecting drift, and ensuring compliance with privacy and data governance policies in a HIPAA-compliant environment.
- • Contribute to the design of human-in-the-loop systems that support clinical decision-making while preserving patient autonomy and provider oversight.
- • Maintain deep hands-on involvement in code reviews, system debugging, and infrastructure improvements to ensure the reliability and scalability of AI systems under real-time clinical usage.
- • Partner with data science and security teams to align AI systems with regulatory frameworks including HIPAA and GDPR, ensuring data minimization, encryption, and auditability across all AI workflows.
- • Define and implement evaluation pipelines focused on model fairness, hallucination mitigation, and contextual accuracy specific to mental health clinical language and scenarios.
- • Drive innovation in AI architecture by researching and prototyping new patterns for agentic reasoning, multi-modal input handling, and dynamic context adaptation within therapy and triage workflows.
- • Participate in cross-functional initiatives to ensure AI systems support equitable care delivery, mitigate bias, and align with Rula’s mission of destigmatizing mental health through compassionate, evidence-based technology.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 7+ years with Public Cloud (AWS, GCP, etc.)
- • 5+ years designing/scaling distributed systems
- • 5+ years of deep experience in Python and at least one other backend language (TypeScript, Java, Go, etc.)
- • 2+ years building AI-powered products at scale with foundation models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, etc.)
- • 2+ years of experience with LLM integration patterns such as RAG, agentic loops, and orchestration frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex
- • 3+ years working with MLOps, data pipelines, evaluation, and observability systems for continuous model improvement
