- • Design, build, and maintain large-scale distributed SaaS systems that power Feathr’s nonprofit marketing platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance for over 1,300 nonprofit clients.
- • Own end-to-end delivery of backend features: from planning and requirement gathering with product and engineering teams, through design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and eventual retirement of code.
- • Work directly under the Associate Director of Product Engineering to execute backend software development projects aligned with business goals and customer needs.
- • Develop and optimize advanced Elasticsearch APIs and complex MongoDB queries and aggregations, ensuring efficient data ingestion, transformation, and retrieval from diverse event streams.
- • Maintain and enhance AWS infrastructure including EC2 and EKS, managing services critical to platform availability, security, and scalability.
- • Implement and manage self-hosted Drone CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, integration, and deployment workflows across production environments.
- • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions that balance immediate needs with long-term system sustainability.
- • Diagnose and resolve complex production issues with patience and precision, often context-switching during critical outages to prioritize system integrity and customer impact.
- • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Feathr’s data and operations through meticulous coding practices and proactive system monitoring.
- • Break down complex technical challenges into manageable tasks, clearly defining deliverables and timelines for team alignment and successful execution.
- • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering colleagues, sharing knowledge and best practices to elevate team capabilities and code quality.
- • Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, facilitating alignment across product, operations, and customer-facing teams.
- • Write clean, maintainable code that solves immediate problems while architecting systems designed to evolve with future demands and scale across growing user bases.
- • Continuously improve technical skills and actively contribute to a culture of learning by documenting insights, leading peer reviews, and advocating for improved engineering practices.
- • Adapt to shifting priorities and evolving product demands with a pragmatic, customer-oriented mindset, always focusing on enabling nonprofits to grow their impact.
- • Participate in the full product development lifecycle, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, code reviews, and post-launch feedback iteration.
- • Work with synchronous and asynchronous environments to support real-time and batch processing needs across marketing, advertising, and web analytics workflows.
- • Contribute to maintaining system observability and operational excellence through logging, metrics, and alerting systems tied to core platform services.
- • Ensure technical solutions directly serve the mission of helping nonprofits build purposeful connections with their communities, prioritizing user impact over technical novelty.
🎯 Requirements
- • 6+ years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on SaaS products
- • Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining large-scale distributed systems
- • Professional experience owning the full process of shipping complex software to real users
- • Advanced knowledge of Kubernetes, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Redis, and Python
- • Expertise in AWS infrastructure (EC2 and EKS) and self-hosted Drone CI/CD
- • Experience with Advanced Elasticsearch APIs and complex MongoDB queries and aggregations
