Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Lead the end-to-end civil engineering design for hyperscale data-centre campuses across EMEA, translating 200 MW+ power loads into buildable, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure that keeps the world’s cloud running 24/7.
  • • Own the technical delivery of site-wide earthworks, roads, drainage, utilities, and external works packages from concept through IFC, ensuring every trench, manhole, and retaining wall is modelled, costed, and specified to ±5 % accuracy.
  • • Direct multidisciplinary teams of 10–20 engineers, CAD technicians, and BIM coordinators in a fully remote environment, using MS Teams, Revit/C3D, and AECOM’s ISO 19650 workflows to maintain live federated models and zero-clash delivery.
  • • Serve as the client’s trusted advisor during due-diligence, presenting ground-risk, flood-risk, and utility-capacity assessments that de-risk ÂŁ500 M–£1 B investments and unlock planning consents in record time.
  • • Pioneer low-carbon design by embedding SuDS, recycled aggregates, and modular precast solutions that cut embodied carbon by up to 30 % while still meeting the ultra-low-latency, vibration-free requirements of Tier III/IV facilities.
  • • Drive digital delivery—automating cut/fill optimisation with Dynamo scripts, running hydraulic models in InfoWorks ICM, and exporting live dashboards to Power BI so stakeholders see progress, cost, and carbon metrics in real time.
  • • Manage planning, tender, and construction-stage interfaces with architects, MEP engineers, and programme managers, ensuring civil packages integrate seamlessly with 36-hour concrete pours, 24-hour commissioning windows, and fast-track handover milestones.
  • • Champion health, safety, and quality through stage-gate reviews, technical audits, and site inspections, achieving zero RIDDOR incidents and 100 % IFC drawing approval on first submission.
  • • Mentor junior engineers through AECOM’s Chartered Civil Engineer scheme, delivering monthly CPD webinars, setting SMART development goals, and signing off ICE IPD reports so your team secures CEng status within four years.
  • • Contribute to AECOM’s data-centre growth strategy by identifying new opportunities, preparing fee proposals, and presenting at industry conferences (Data Centre World, DCD>Connect) to position the firm as the go-to civil partner for cloud giants.
  • • Continuously improve our global data-centre playbook—updating standard details, specification clauses, and BIM families so every subsequent project starts 20 % faster and 10 % cheaper without compromising quality or innovation.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng, MICE) with 10+ years’ experience delivering large-scale site infrastructure for industrial, mission-critical, or data-centre projects.
  • • Expert proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and BIM Level 2 workflows; ability to author and federate models compliant with ISO 19650.
  • • Demonstrated success managing civil packages >ÂŁ25 M CAPEX from feasibility through construction, including earthworks, roads, drainage, and utilities.
  • • Strong client-facing and remote-team leadership skills, evidenced by presentations to C-suite stakeholders and management of distributed teams across multiple time zones.
  • • Working knowledge of UK/European design standards (DMRB, Sewers for Adoption, Eurocodes) and planning regimes; familiarity with Irish or Nordic data-centre markets is a plus.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Fully remote working with flexible hours and a ÂŁ1,500 home-office setup allowance so you can design world-class infrastructure from anywhere.
  • • Annual performance bonus up to 20 % of base salary plus access to AECOM’s employee share purchase plan.
  • • 27 days’ holiday (buy/sell up to 5), private medical cover, life assurance (4Ă— salary), and a market-leading pension with 7 % company contribution.
  • • ÂŁ2,500 annual professional-development budget for training, chartership fees, and conference attendance to keep your skills at the cutting edge.
