• • As a Principal Cloud Engineer at Cloudscaler Inc., you will be at the forefront of delivering transformative AWS solutions for some of the UK's most critical government, defence, and enterprise organizations. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your deep expertise in designing, building, and operating enterprise-scale AWS landing zones, coupled with a profound understanding of site reliability engineering (SRE) best practices. You will be instrumental in modernizing public services, securing vital infrastructure, and driving national impact through cutting-edge cloud technology.
• • You will play a pivotal role in leading complex cloud transformations for our clients. This involves working closely with key stakeholders, understanding their unique challenges, and architecting and implementing best-in-class AWS platforms that are scalable, secure, and resilient. Your ability to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions will be paramount.
• • A core responsibility will be the automation of complex AWS services and platforms. You will be a champion for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), utilizing tools like Terraform to define, provision, and manage cloud infrastructure. This includes developing reusable modules, adhering to best practices for IaC structure and modularization, and ensuring that deployments are consistent, repeatable, and auditable.
• • You will be responsible for designing and implementing multi-tenant systems that adhere to the highest standards of security, scalability, and isolation. This requires a nuanced understanding of AWS networking, identity and access management, and resource governance to ensure that each tenant's environment is secure and performs optimally.
• • The role involves the end-to-end lifecycle management of AWS landing zones. This includes the initial design and build, rigorous testing, packaging of infrastructure components, deployment into production environments, and ongoing operation and monitoring. You will ensure that landing zones are robust, compliant, and aligned with client security and operational requirements.
• • You will be expected to package various AWS services into efficient and deployable formats, such as Amazon Machine Images (AMIs), Docker containers, or Serverless deployments. This requires a strong understanding of containerization technologies and serverless architectures, enabling flexible and scalable application deployments.
• • As a thought leader within the team and for our clients, you will be opinionated about IaC structure and modularization. You will define technical direction and strategy for systems and teams, influencing architectural decisions and promoting best practices across the board. Your experience will guide the development of robust and maintainable cloud solutions.
• • You will be involved in scoping container and microservices architectures to design effective cloud solutions. This includes evaluating different architectural patterns, selecting appropriate AWS services, and ensuring that the designed solutions meet performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency objectives.
• • Implementing advanced deployment techniques to enable zero-downtime updates and rollbacks will be a key aspect of your work. You will ensure that client applications and services can be updated seamlessly without impacting user experience, leveraging strategies like blue-green deployments, canary releases, and rolling updates.
• • A significant focus will be placed on mitigating security risks within AWS environments. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of a mature Cloud Security Model, implementing security best practices, conducting security reviews, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. This includes managing access controls, network security, data encryption, and threat detection.
