Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own and evolve Babylist’s privacy legal program across U.S. state privacy laws, including CCPA/CPRA and emerging health-adjacent frameworks.
- • Serve as the primary legal owner for the company’s ads stack, managing data use agreements, signal measurement, identity resolution, DSP/SSP partnerships, and clean room arrangements.
- • Build and maintain legal review workflows embedded in the product lifecycle to ensure privacy-by-design principles are integrated from PRD through launch.
- • Draft, negotiate, and standardize data processing agreements (DPAs), data sharing agreements, and consent framework documentation using scalable templates and a maintained clause library.
- • Partner directly with Engineering and Product teams to design and operationalize data subject access request (DSAR) workflows, consent management systems, data mapping, and data minimization practices.
- • Advise on legal and regulatory risks related to sensitive and health-adjacent data collected through Babylist Health and other product offerings.
- • Monitor the evolving U.S. privacy regulatory landscape and proactively brief executive leadership, driving policy updates and cross-functional training for GTM, Product, and Operations teams.
- • Manage external privacy counsel by owning engagement strategy, scope, and cost efficiency — not just maintaining relationships.
- • Leverage AI tools to monitor compliance, automate reporting, and improve the efficiency and accuracy of privacy operations.
- • Translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into clear, prioritized, actionable business guidance aligned with company objectives and growth goals.
- • Communicate effectively with senior executives, engineers, product managers, and data teams, bridging technical, legal, and business contexts.
- • Lead initiatives with autonomy in a high-growth environment, influencing without formal authority across multiple departments.
- • Maintain active membership in good standing with a U.S. State Bar and hold a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school (or foreign equivalent).
- • Operate as a strategic business partner, not a support function, embedding privacy compliance into core product, engineering, and advertising functions.
🎯 Requirements
- • 12+ years of overall professional experience, including at least 3 years at a reputable law firm and 5+ years in-house at a high-growth technology company advising on privacy, data, and regulatory matters
- • Deep expertise in U.S. privacy laws, particularly CCPA/CPRA, and working familiarity with emerging state privacy health frameworks
- • Hands-on experience with adtech data flows including targeting, measurement, DSPs/SSPs, clean rooms, signal loss, and consent requirements in programmatic ecosystems
- • Demonstrated experience building or scaling a privacy program — operationalizing policies, establishing review workflows, managing DSARs, and coordinating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Security
- • Bachelor’s degree and J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school (or foreign equivalent); active membership in good standing in a U.S. State Bar
- • Proven ability to use AI tools to monitor, manage, and report on compliance, and to integrate AI into daily legal workflows
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary ranging from $229,412 to $275,311 with equity and bonus opportunities
- • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
- • Retirement savings plan with company matching and flexible spending accounts
- • Generous paid parental leave and PTO
- • Remote work stipend to set up your home office
- • Perks supporting physical, mental, and emotional health, parenting, childcare, and financial planning
