Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Principal Data Architect - AI is a senior technical leadership role responsible for designing, building, and governing MeridianLink’s enterprise data architecture from source to consumption, ensuring data is reliable, secure, and actionable across analytical, operational, and customer-facing products.
- • The role involves defining conceptual, logical, and physical data models; building and maintaining a functional meta-model; architecting medallion-layer Delta Lake patterns on Azure Databricks; writing production PySpark, SQL, and Delta Lake code; leading data integration design via Informatica IDMC and direct pipelines; championing data governance, lineage, and metadata management; standardizing modeling practices across teams; and influencing the data roadmap through cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, ML, Finance, Risk, and Customer teams.
- • MeridianLink is a FinTech SaaS company providing lending, banking, and financial services software solutions, operating in a regulated, multi-tenant environment where data integrity, compliance, and scalability are critical to product success and customer trust.
- • The incumbent will deepen expertise in enterprise data architecture within a high-growth FinTech SaaS context, gain hands-on influence over cloud-native data platforms (Azure Databricks, Unity Catalog, IDMC), shape governance and ML-ready data products, and emerge as a trusted advisor who bridges technical depth with business impact — advancing toward enterprise data leadership or CTO-track roles.
🎯 Requirements
- • 12–15+ years of progressive experience in data engineering, data warehousing, and data architecture, with recent years at architect level
- • Demonstrated experience as a Data Architect at a SaaS company in FinTech or financial services software (lending, banking, payments, capital markets, insurance)
- • Deep, hands-on expertise with Databricks and PySpark on Azure, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, structured streaming, and performance tuning at scale
- • Production experience with Informatica Data Management Cloud (IDMC) or comparable enterprise integration platforms
- • Proven track record of designing and implementing detailed end-to-end data models (conceptual, logical, physical) that have shipped to production and endured over time
- • Strong command of dimensional modeling (Kimball), Data Vault 2.0, and modern lakehouse patterns, with ability to select the right approach per use case
- • Expert SQL skills and strong proficiency in Python/PySpark; comfortable writing code, not just diagrams
- • Demonstrated experience implementing data governance, lineage, and metadata management (e.g., Unity Catalog, IDMC, Collibra, Atlan)
- • Working knowledge of FinTech-relevant regulations (GLBA, SOC 2, PCI, NIST, state lending) and their impact on data design
- • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to explain complex data concepts to engineers, executives, customers, and auditors
🏖️ Benefits
- • Opportunity to shape enterprise data strategy in a high-impact FinTech SaaS environment
- • Hands-on role building and validating architectures — not just designing in isolation
- • Collaboration with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, ML, Finance, Risk, and Customer-facing groups
- • Exposure to cutting-edge Azure data services and modern data stack (Databricks, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, IDMC, ADLS Gen2)
- • Professional growth toward enterprise data leadership or technical executive roles
- • Work in a regulated, innovative environment where data integrity directly enables product trust and compliance
