  • • Join Aker Systems, a rapidly growing technology company founded in 2017 by experienced professionals dedicated to building and operating ground-breaking, ultra-secure, high-performance, cloud-based data infrastructure for large organisations. We are at the forefront of innovation, leveraging proprietary technology solutions that drive performance, reduce costs, and empower clients to enhance data management and sharing across their enterprises.
  • • Recognized for our commitment to culture and growth, Aker Systems was awarded the Breakthrough Culture Awards in 2024 and named a ā€˜One to Watch’ on the Sunday Times Tech Track in 2020. We also secured multiple wins at the Thames Valley Tech Awards 2020, including Thames Valley Tech Company of the Year. We are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can do their best work, and we actively encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds and identities.
  • • As a Principal DevOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development and implementation of secure cloud environments. These environments will host sophisticated data and batch/real-time analytical platforms for both public and private sector clients, utilizing the latest commercial and open-source technologies and methodologies.
  • • Your responsibilities will extend to building robust automated deployment pipelines using advanced configuration management technologies. This includes deploying new modules, executing upgrades, and implementing critical fixes across test and production environments, ensuring seamless and reliable operations.
  • • You will be instrumental in building, testing, and deploying cloud-based infrastructure and applications, with a strong emphasis on CI/CD practices and Infrastructure-as-Code principles. This involves creating repeatable, scalable, and version-controlled infrastructure.
  • • Contribute significantly to the coding of custom test automation frameworks, enhancing the efficiency and reliability of our testing processes. This includes developing new test cases and maintaining existing ones to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • • Perform essential script maintenance and updates, adapting to evolving requirements and implementation changes to ensure the continued functionality and performance of our systems.
  • • Provide crucial assistance with the setup and maintenance of environments, catering to both manual and automated testing needs. This ensures that our development and QA teams have stable and efficient environments to work in.
  • • Actively participate in production support by investigating and resolving incidents, minimizing downtime and ensuring the highest levels of service availability for our clients.
  • • Undertake ongoing routine application maintenance tasks, ensuring the smooth operation and upkeep of our deployed solutions.
  • • Assist in conducting thorough gap analyses, identifying feasible alternative solutions, and contributing to the scope of modifications and enhancements to our platforms.
  • • Play a key role in contingency planning, developing and implementing reliable backup and restore procedures to safeguard our clients' critical data.
  • • Document all functions and changes related to new or modified modules, as well as detailing test activities and their results. Clear and comprehensive documentation is vital for knowledge sharing and future development.
  • • Mentor and guide the team, fostering a culture of collaboration and technical excellence, driving the team to deliver solutions that meet and exceed customer requirements from the outset.
  • • This role requires a UK Government Security Check (SC) clearance. If you do not currently hold SC clearance, Aker Systems will provide full support for your application, provided you meet the eligibility criteria of having lived and worked in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.

  • • Proficiency in server build and administration, encompassing both Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • • Strong experience with GitHub/GitLab for source control, including performing code reviews as part of the build and deployment cycle.
  • • Hands-on experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code technologies, such as Terraform and Ansible.
