Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As a Principal Engineer I on the Prepurchase Platform team at Ticketmaster, you will write production code daily, lead platform modernization efforts, and design resilient, high-scale systems that power fans’ journey to tickets during peak on-sales, handling billions of API calls with zero tolerance for failure.
- • You will act on production problems with urgency, build end-to-end high-availability systems, lead migrations to cloud-native microservices, design event-driven architectures using Kafka/gRPC, and champion resilience patterns like circuit breakers and auto-scaling while working across teams to solve cross-cutting architectural challenges.
- • You will partner with Product, Security, and SRE teams to align technical decisions with business goals, drive observability improvements, eliminate single points of failure, and apply AI/ML tools to enhance developer productivity and system intelligence.
- • The Prepurchase Platform group owns backend services for event discovery, real-time seat availability, and interactive venue experiences at massive scale, operating within Ticketmaster NA under Live Nation Entertainment, where reliability, teamwork, integrity, and belonging are core values guiding a culture of innovation in live event ticketing.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven ability to reason about distributed systems tradeoffs (scalability, consistency, availability, latency) and make defensible design decisions under real constraints
- • Expertise in Java (17+) and the JVM, including internals, garbage collection, and performance tuning under load; Kotlin is a plus
- • Hands-on experience with reactive, non-blocking frameworks (Vert.x, Spring WebFlux) and asynchronous, event-driven service design
- • Deep experience with stream processing and event-driven architecture (Kafka Streams, Apache Flink), including stateful streaming, topology design, and managing local state stores (e.g., RocksDB) at scale
- • Strong command of gRPC (including streaming RPC) and binary serialization formats (FlatBuffers, Avro, Protobuf) with schema evolution via a registry
- • Hands-on experience with AWS (EKS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and cloud-native operations
🏖️ Benefits
- • Medical, vision, dental, and mental health benefits with access to a health care concierge and FSA/HSA options
- • Free concert tickets and generous paid time off including paid holidays, sick time, and personal days
- • 401(k) program with company match and stock reimbursement program
- • New parent programs including caregiver leave, plus fertility, adoption, foster, or surrogacy support
- • Career and skill development programs with School of Live, tuition reimbursement, and student loan repayment
- • Volunteer time off and crowdfunding match
